March 24th
Hi all

I bought a magazine yesterday and a leaflet dropped out. Adobe will be in Islington London on March 24th. Details can be found at:

http://www.photoshopseminars.com/uk

I don't think it's for people like me (looks for more advanced bod's) but it certainly looks like a great day out

That looks good, unfortunately, I don't have £99+travel to spare

Yes I know what you mean. I'm trying to swing a day off and get there. I am going to try to get my firm to pay for me but I think I may struggle a bit with this one. I would really like to attend this one. I'm a bit addicted to Photoshop now and this is like getting to a Bon Jovi gig or meeting Vivaldi

My advice would be save your hard earned pay. I know Scott Kelby is the president of NAPP, and the best selling computer book author in the world, but I've been a NAPP member for awhile now and have attended a couple of PhotoshopWorld conferences, and Scott's courses are... well... bleh. I don't know how else to put it. He teaches very mundane, boring stuff that doesn't really provide any really usable techniques. I've been disappointed every time. Wait for Deke McClelland, Jack Davis, Ben Willmore, Katrin Eismann, Julianne Kost, or - the ultimate PS artist - Bert Monroy to come around. All of them are much, much better instructors, and actually teach usable techniques.

Of course this is all my opinion, but I've spent A LOT of money to attend courses by the afore mentioned, and those are the instructors that I've appreciated the most.

Oh, and I'm sure that if Steve can teach half as well as he can write that his courses would be tops too!

Hmm. I've done a lot of lecturing, of course, and it usually goes down well. Maybe I should arrange a one-day tutorial session for forum members, here in London. Perhaps to coincide with what may or may not be the release of a potential upgrade to a well-known image editing application.

Would anyone be interested? i know it's a long way from Florida, Brian, but if you were planning a trip over here anyway…

I have to say that I would most certainly, definatly, undeniably be interested in that Steve. Having witnessed your seminar skills at Adobe Live last year I would highly recommend it to anyone, including those who have to catch a plane to get there!

Would be good to also meet all the folks on the Forum in person, no more hiding behind AV's!

Wow I'd be interested, as long as it coincides with any holiday entitlement I have which might not be a lot due to me being a new starter*

*dependant upon my passing my PCV driving test, of course

Re: March 24th
Now, the dilemma is..how does Steve arrange this without letting slip the release date of this certain piece of software by an undisclosed software firm?

I would also be interested depending on dates - I am originally from Glasgow and I visit the UK a lot.

Well, I think we'd be looking at some point after I finish the third edition – I've got a load of work to do on it between now and then - which means June, at the earliest. Unless you're all raring to go, in which case I'd have something interesting to show you in the beginning of April…

Re: March 24th
I would be a definate attendee for that Steve. Would guess less people on holiday in April than there will be in June.

Oh, decisions, decisions. Personally, I think it should be to mark the book release, I'm sure that there's going to be enough coverage of the software when it's out. That way we get the best of both!

Aha! Now that's a good idea. Although whether I could stand the bunch of you sitting around pointing out mistakes is another matter…

OK, I'll see if I can find out the exact publication date!
