Frustrated semi newb here needs help
Hello.. i KNOW the answer is simple, i just can't, for the life of me figure it out. I am trying to do the first FUndamentals lesson, with the tire and the hubcap and the Elliptical marquee tool will not cooperate. I draw it around the hubcap, release the mouse button and it shrinks down to a small circle, every time. I know there is a setting somewhere, but I can't find it for hte life of me.
Thanks in advance!

Release the mouse button before you let go of the alt key!

Nope. Still does it.
Using Elliptical marquee tool, I start to draw, press and hold ALT, finish my selection around the hubcap, release moues button, it drops back to a smaller circle, not really snapping to anything.

Re: Frustrated semi newb here needs help
assuming u are talking about step 2...

click-hold somwhere in the image.
drag to somewhere else.
unclick (let go of button)

press-hold alt key
click-hold somewhere
un-press alt
drag somewhere else
unclick

not sure where the problem lies and that's why I explained so baby-like

Re: Frustrated semi newb here needs help
Problem is with both scenarios actually

click-hold in the image
drag to somehwere else
unclick, gets me this: No pixels were more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible.

Press-hold alt key
click hold, move somewhere
unpress alt
drag somewhere else, unlcik..
the ellipse I drew shrinks down to a regular circle, abou an inch in diameter, unless I make a HUGE selection ,then its fine.

You set the feather radius in the tool options bar.

Re: Frustrated semi newb here needs help
Why on earth did you have the feather radius set to 50??? I can't think of a use for that as a default setting!

If you want to feather a selection, then do so after the selection has been made, not before.

And just to set my mind at rest, are Elviss and Carsten the same person? Or do you both just share the same Photoshop problem?
