Deep Space step 13 missing
I bought the e-book from amazon and I can not find step thirteen on the deep space chapter. It has to do with a quick mask but I am unsure how to make that happen... Can anyone help? |

Hello, Do you mean 100% photoshop? Which part of the Deep Space chapter are you stuck on? I've looked in the book and can't find a 'step 13' . Do you have a page number etc? _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

Re: Deep Space step 13 missing
Im using the e-book version and its set up a little differently than a traditional book. Its the step where you create the lighting for the space ships. And yes 100% photoshop sorry. |

Sorry. As Steve has stated he has big problem with e-book renditions of his books. I think he will comment. |

Re: Deep Space step 13 missing
Yeah but they are so much easier... I read mine on the amazon site so I can just click over read the next step then click back and do it in photoshop. No balancing of a book required! |

Re: Deep Space step 13 missing
I'm sure Steve will correct if I've missed anything, I hope this is the part you meant anyway! 1> Start a new layer for the light beam. Make a rectangular selection and add an elliptical top (You can fill this in red for now so you can see what shape you have). 2> Ctrl click on your red layer to select it. Right mouse click, select Feather , I chose a feather of 5 for mine. 3> Ctrl click the red layer again and create a NEW layer (make sure you still have that shape slected!) You can click the eye to HIDE the red layer. 4> Change your foreground and background colors both to White. Then on your new layer (with that shape still selected!). press G (gradient tool) and in the gradient tool bar set it to White-to-transparent. Now drag a vertical line down through that shape selection. You should have something that looks like this now. Then you can just Free transform the beam to fit your Spaceship lights etc.. ![]() _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

Re: Deep Space step 13 missing
Sorry the GRADIENT tool needs to be set to Foreground-to-transparent , which is the same as White-to-transparent just called different! _________________ “Art Is Never Finished, Only Abandoned.” |

Re: Deep Space step 13 missing
I haven't seen the ebook of 100% Photoshop - in fact, this is the first time I heard there was one. Can you send me a screen shot showing the missing step? Sounds like I need to get onto the publishers about this. Steve |

Ok Sounds interesting, thanks. I've not tried that, I just have the book, but too heavy to carry at the moment on travels ![]() |
