Amazing. Was all of that done in photoshop?

Thanks for the comments.
Was all of that done in photoshop?

It was put together with PS.
The Background is out of a book. Skulls are from Steve's DVD skeletons.
The burning hand is made from a shape, a couple of layers, inner glow, outer glow and the smudge tool.

I didn't even notice that was a hand. Very cool idea.

Re: Challenge 316: Three faces
Very interesting, more great entries . I just have one more that seems to be potentially more disturbing, but not meant to be...

Emil, nice work on incorporating the two in common eyes into the three faces.

Re: Challenge 316: Three faces
Some truly astonishing work this week - much of it somewhat disturbing, but all of a very high entertainment value. The hardest thing seemed to be coping with the fact that the original sculpture only has the one chin, a feature which several of you managed to replicate. The problem, of course, is that in the carving the eyes are very widely spaced to accommodate this downward-facing view: real heads are not so malleable!

First up was Ben Mills, with a perfectly chosen body of politician William Hague. Nice work, but isn't his head altogether a little narrow?

A candid self portrait from GKB, seamlessly blending three images into one: the added shadow behind helps the realism, and that's a brave attempt at dealing with the errant chin on the right. Is that why gargoyles never wore shirts? Love the dog treatment in the second entry! Cerberus guarding the gates of Photoshop hell?

Another politician, this time from james - is that a Miliband? Good work on the single chin. And I like the Will Smith version - are you a fan, then?

And so Josephine Harvatt is pressing her son into action (I believe), with three faces that do nearly match up: this is clearly more difficult than it appears! It could be that the facing-down pose of the original allows us to have a full-size head tapering to just one chin. A brave attempt at blending two wildly differing politicians in the second entry - certainly far more convincing than the real thing!

Truly spooky work from vibeke, using - her granddaughter? This does seem a week for co-opting family members. I really like the changes of expression in here, and the very subtle blending.

Complex stuff from Jota 120, who has blended three faces together and then reflected them all in what I imagine is one of Anish Kapoor's sculptures (he of the wax-hurling machine from some months ago). A great head treatment, but is the reflection simply over-complicating things? Ah - there's the original, in the second entry. Good, but do keep the eyes crisp. And a rather weird, but strangely compelling third entry: I really like this one.

A Poser figure, I'm guessing, from LonnieK: the hair works well, and the beard is a clever choice to help mask the tricky chin area.

I liked brewell's Star Trek homage, and clever use of two identical images, with just the hint of a nose suggesting a third face. Ingenious.

A cheesy grin from tooquilos, but that's an awkward mouth to work with! A very cute animated version: the blurred shaking is a great addition.

Very nice blending from Carlo Alessandro Della Valle, the beard providing a good blending basis. I think I'd have extended the forehead to avoid that peak of hair right in the middle, though.

A narrow self portrait from Eva Roth, but a clever way of dealing with the hair by blending it into the black background. For some reason, this one reminds me of a candlestick...

Is that really three people in Les Moore's entry? Extraordinary. Fantastic tone matching, amazing blending. Making her still look beautiful after that is a real tour de force. A really good piece of work.

Surreal work from Stefano Giacomuzzi - I like the way the two faces avoid yet intersect with each other. The stitching may be a little too harsh - add some shading to blend it in - and would it be possible to add the stone texture to the woman's face?

A good chin solution from Deborah Morley, again with the technique of flipping one head horizontally and adding a third round the back. It's surprising how well this approach works! The consistent lighting really helps the illusion on this one.

Slightly off-topic, but a striking image from Elliott. Did you try moving the right-hand version further to the left, so the two eyes joined? That might be interesting.

Beautiful, and (as always) textural and highly detailed work from Tom. A terrific selection of components - I really like the decrepit nature of the skulls, the flaming hand is beautiful, and even the highlights have a dazzling specular quality to them. The snake and the jewel, of course, round the whole thing off nicely.

Very neat work from laddition, with seamless blending. Perhaps a couple of chins too many: but the faces all fit together remarkably well.

Clever work from Emil - I'm guessing that's Hadrian? Excellent blending of the heads, with the single helmet neatly tying all the foreheads together. I particularly like the background, especially the way you've brought the bottom forward to make a base. A great setting.

Very fine work from everyone this week. Now imagine doing the same thing in stone, with no layers and no undo key...

Thanks again Steve. An interesting challenge, even if disturbing results. Gives some other ideas I might explore later, ... oh no!
