Contest 169: Take to the skies
I photographed this plane on a trip to Dusseldorf a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to see it in the air - which means, of course, closing that door, folding the wheels up... and perhaps we could see a pilot through the windscreen? Whether you choose to finish the back end is up to you, of course. High res is here.  |

I had a good day's air to air photography yesterday in the Cambridge area and got this shot of a nice cloud backdrop - couldn't let it go to waste. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/GKBphoto/GKBAIRWAYS.jpg

Why is it you notice your faults the second after you post your own? My Nose is all wrong! I like your Nose GKB if you nose what I mean! Lovely perspective and a lovely view, so do you fly then by any chance? |

Thank you Vibeke and Elliot. Elliot, yes, I'm afraid I had a head start on this one as I was an air to air photographer and pilot when I wasn't doing the day job. The nose was done by drawing it back in with the pen tool to get the curve right. It is easier if you make a large selection than a small one. This was converted to a selection on a new layer and filled with a gradient taken from samples of the blues. This was selectively masked to get the little 'catchlight' back. The cloud backdrop was actually shot the previous day before I knew about this week's challenge. |
