Challenge 681: Enter the Gladiator
I visited the Colosseum on a recent trip to Rome, and was intrigued to find this hole in the ground beneath one of the arches leading away from the arena.

Could this be where reluctant gladiators or other unwilling combatants escaped their fate?

High res is here.

Re: Challenge 681: Enter the Gladiator
I visited the Colosseum last year and discovered from our guide that one of the crimes for which you could be consigned to the arena was tax evasion! Nowadays the lions would be fat and replete from a guaranteed daily diet of politician. Their keeper could keep them up to date on the menu from the newspapers. "Looks like Berlusconi today lads!!'.

Which gives me an idea ............

.......... FOR A SUITABLE CONSIDERATION I COULD ARRANGE FOR YOU TO AVOID THE ARENA ENTIRELY MR BERLUSCONI ...........

Bit more time for this today.

Along with this flu/virus I have a chest infection (just taken the first antibiotics now) . after long rests, I'm able to do very short periods at my computer, so I have finished this week's entry.

I needed some desperate relief, so I have taken Tramadol, Paracetamol with caffeine, and cough mixture which has given me the break that I needed

Michael - sorry to hear you are feeling grotty - if that combo of chemicals don't work I don't know what will!

The Mordor Metro left much to be desired in Gimli's opinion.

Point-and-Shoot time traveler . . . actually, I dropped my 15 year old PaS onto the pavement and was forced to replace it.
So I am focused on learning the controls of a new one this week.

David, I thought your entry both funny and witty; sorry I did not comment earlier.

I enjoyed doing this while the tramadol did its work.

This is a "static" and not an animated Gif. What? Something to do with Rome wasn't it?

Very clever Deborah - especially the crocodile reference - hope you are feeling OK
