Interesting set of solutions
First ....

Not sure why this took too long apart from too many interruptions and having to rework/fix some later perceived defects (induced?).

In my spare time (something I get very little of lately) I like to upcycle anything from old oil drums to shop manakins so I couldn’t resist what this hotel would look like with a makeover using some of my creations

That looks like an old AVO meter on the cabinet. The one time Rolls Royce reduced to a table lamp .......... such is re-incarnation in the techno world.

Coo, my dad had one of those when I was kid.

Michael Sinclair - If only Mr Trump had been speaking about the Hotel!

Trevor - loved your image.

Ant - What a terrific collection of odd pieces!

I admit I was at a loss as to what to do with this image. Actually, I really wanted to animate a cat scratching at the armrest and then the spigot spraying water to it to jump off. However, I don't have the time to have created it myself and a pre-animated cat would cost me $700.00. I will just have to wait until Fuse adds a quadruped module.

I did some adjustments to the animation in an attempt to make it sync better with the voiceover. I think it's better, but it's not ideal. I don't have any sound editing software. I can only move the clips on the timeline based on listening to it over and over again and giving it my best questimation.

Hello Ant,
I've just looked at your recycled work , I'm very impressed and it makes some of the so called experts efforts look very amateurish , keep up the good work.

I still have and use my Avo 7 meter and have attached a photo of it on my workbench at home , I'm retired and find I don't have enough hours in the day !!

Regards from Neale.

Thanks, this little hobby started by me having a go at making a lamp out of an old pre-war blow torch and grew into an obsession that has left me unable to walk past a junk shop or reclamation yard without losing an hour or so of my life. Still it’s all good fun

Re: Challenge 688: The hotel hallway
First to occupy the hot seat this week was DavidMac, with a neatly attached shower head and a perfectly posed man. I really like the splashes around his shoulders - perhaps add a puddle around his feet? Ingenious second entry, combining this image with the previous one from the same hotel - a masterful piece of work. Splendid plumbing.

For those who are wondering, the title of David's first entry is a nod to Rene Magritte's painting of a pipe entitled Ceci n'est pas une pipe. Talking of which: can anyone name three famous Belgian detectives?

A complicated notion behind dwindt's entry, suggesting that the chair's purpose is to collect bodily gases to power the boiler in the next room. A nice idea, and an impressive removal of the sideboard; I'd have added someone to the chair, for a human element. And that's a very flat coffin!

A touch of satire from Josephine Harvatt - and indeed, Theresa May's cabinet does leak like crazy. Not sure it fires beams of light, though. The damp patches on the carpet are a nice touch.

I like how lwc has made the place even worse, with truly shabby chairs and a suited-up exterminator. The nod to Fawlty Towers in the framed photo is a nice touch, as is the mouse hole. A enjoyed the second entry, with its entertaining text and realistic newspaper mockup - although you should find a genuine condensed sans bold, rather than squeezing an existing font. That approach always produces deformed characters.

I enjoyed michael sinclair's rolling dump truck, although I don't quite understand how it's carrying that chair. Perhaps you need a bit of a fork sticking through or under it? Also, two suggestions: (a) make the glass of the cab transparent, and (b) surely you could patch the background to avoid the sudden jump? I'd have thought it would be quite an easy matter to make a seamless join in the rubbish.

A renovated hallway from GKB, with a neat sideboard, lamp and power sockets, new pictures and a new door. Oh, and a new carpet. In fact, almost nothing remains of the original hallway in this Marineresque transformation. But - and I have to point this out - your perspective is all over the place. Use the original cabinet to draw vanishing lines and you'll see what I mean.

A rather public shower room from tooquilos, with some great touches: the puddles on the floor, the textured glass with its reflection, the plastic covering on the chair, and the rather find man with the towel (how did you build him in Fuse?). Fantastic shower and steam effects in the animated version - and that spreading puddle is perfect. Small point: that wooden hand position is a little jarring.

A typically surreal image from Jota120, with a brace of pheasant (note the technical jargon, city dwellers) strolling through the grass carpet. I like the added hose and fish tank. The girl in the chair looks oddly plastic - is she a robot? Not sure if the doll in the second entry adds much; I find it rather distracting.

A topical shot of Meghan Markle from Gerard, who (for those living outside the UK) is about to become Mrs Prince Harry, aka the Duchess of somewhere they haven't decided on yet. (She won't become Princess Harry, or even Princess Meghan, for reasons it would take a royal commentator to explain.) I like the branded suitcase, and the Royal Suite notice; slightly concerned that she's a bit too big for the chair. Glad you're recovered, Gerard.

A variety of entertaining objects from Ant Snell - your house must be a very entertaining place to visit. The oil drum chair in particular is most appealing, although I'd have photographed it more from the side. What's that picture with the handle sticking out of it?

A lipsynch animation from srawland, which very nearly works. Perhaps a better approach would be to model some different phonemes, and then simply turn their layers on and off as David speaks? I like the music, and the added title in the second entry.

An entertaining entry from Mariner, featuring my friend Giles lifting the entire hotel (albeit with a somewhat distorted head), before stonecladding it, removing half the walls and installing Potus as bartender. You've put a lot of work into this! But it's still fake news.

Thank you Steve Im not sure what you mean by the wooden hand? Ive looked and relooked at the video and the image but can’t see a wooden hand
The guy is my standard Mr Fuse that I use and I just found a towel in images and wrapped it around him.
