Challenge 699: Crumlin Road
On my trip to Belfast a few months ago I visited Crumlin Road Gaol, the notorious penal centre where convicted Irish dissidents - on both sides - were banged up and maltreated.

Here's a scene from a cell as it was century or more ago, with a man who's clearly been having a rough time.

Can you make his living space more comfortable?

High res is here.

Ol' Bob cleaned up pretty good for his new digs... it pays to have friends in high places.

NO LAURENCE. HE ISN'T ANY HAPPIER ........

For those of you unfamiliar with UK television's less intellectual output, Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen was a rather camp star in a show called "Changing Rooms" which did makeovers on rooms in people's homes. Lawrence specialised in rather pretentious transformations which occasionally verged on the brink of silliness.

Even when inside, there’s got to be better things to do on a cold wet Easter bank holiday weekend.

Love the chandelier with only one bulb burning!

Good work Loyd, even if your perspective is a bit off.

Thanks Michael!

Yes, I knew that perspectives would come into question. In my minds eye, I saw a domed ceiling that visually changed true perspective a bit. I failed to realize that no one but me would see it that way... I make a lot of mistakes.

I think what Micheal was referring to was probably this. Two distinct horizon lines.

I haven't a good excuse, just me being careless.

Aren't we all? If had had a euro for every 'careless' I'd be a millionaire by now. And if Steve had a euro for every one of mine he's spotted he'd be doing pretty well too!

Come to think of it, just forgetting to thread the cap of the plug onto the cable before connecting it could net me my first thousand!

Not my finest hour and a lot more fiddly than I expected.

I thought he could do with some "friends" to cheer him up

I am through with the convention but now I'm pretty certain I am coming down with the flu. I had wanted to do more with this, but I thought I better get it posted while I still was able.

No matter how luxurious, a cage is a cage. The only way to be truly comfortable in it, is to leave it.
