Re: Challenge 700: Freeze the moment
Well done on your first attempt with Hit Film. For a still image capture just move your time line to the frame that you want to capture then go to the top right of your screen and you will see an 'Options' tab. Click on that and, at the bottom of the drop down list you will see 'Export Frame'. You can take it from there. The still image will, of course, be the same resolution as the video. _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |

Thanks Steve Can't explain the stuttering as it seems to work ok for me. The film does actually stop at one point as this was intended to be slow motion followed by the final 'freeze frame' _________________ |

Glad you like the phone ... it was a lot of work. Yes the hand is not good at all. I had a terrible time finding a non copyrighted hand. By the time I finally did, I was so relieved I didn't look at it properly. I spotted it after posting but, having already re-posted one altered image (which I don't really approve of doing) I didn't want to do it again.
Yes again. It's a milk explosion. Best I could find. I really didn't feel up to creating a pie from scratch. Gates was more for fun and amusement than challenge. Thanks Steve. As sharp eyed as ever. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Thanks Steve. -Agree should be shadow under yellow duck, I added some, but not dense enough. -I was also thinking how to maybe render the train moving. Freeze Motion, meant I couldn't add motion blur. I had thought of adding a series of Freeze Motion snaps taken over time into a video. An alternative would have been to use steam train, with smoke trail etc making the point. That probably would have worked and been more interesting. There is a driver-> but not so clear in shadows. -agree the plane emerging from the smoke would be better composition, but pedantically your not supposed to fly a jet through an ash clouds, especially with the size of some of those particles. Just pedantic, art for art's sake agree it would improve the image. |

My image hosting service has had problems all week. Images there, images not there. Are mine not showing up for you Steve? I like the service I used because it allows for larger file sizes than most, but if it is only going to work part of the time, then it isn't worth it. |

Thank you Steve. Yes, It was all done in After Effects. I looked at several videos on exploding light bulbs on Youtube and tried to emulate the effects. I didn’t detect distortion in the glass but thats not to say it wasn’t there. One thing that surprised me though was the glass shattered way after the bullet had hit..it didn’t appear to happen on impact. the other surprising thing was the filament, how that was stretched and distorted before eventually turning off. You are absolutely right about the refraction through the ice! I completely forgot about it. _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Thank you, Steve, for your very generous critique. I feel like someone who after years of driving around in a entry-level car, suddenly finding themselves confronted with driving an Aston-Martin. I feel like I've been living DavidMac's signature: "The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ......." I'm going to have to find a sound editing program. The reason I used the Bach Cello Suite 1 Prelude was because it was the only piece I could upload into the program. Apparently, HitFilm won't take sound files that are much longer than two minutes. Or, perhaps I need to upgrade my computer. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Hi Sara I just loaded the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto into Hit Film. At over 17 minutes it accepts it quite happily. You should be able to load mp3 and wav files with no issues. If you should really need a sound editor then I would suggest Audacity (http://www.audacityteam.org/). This is an excellent and free editor. To be honest you should be able to do pretty much everything that you will need to do within HitFilm, though. It's still early days yet. Keep watching the on-line video tutorials and you'll soon get the hang of it. _________________ If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you. |
