David, why not on German?

Spolschoe spassiba, Steve! Merci beaucoup!

Lovely images all. I got so involved with another project, I nearly forgot to post this.

I'm sure i'm the least imaginative out of us all....so, here's my straight to the brief image....boring....

Because the garage is in Spain ......

I love multi lingualism. I speak only French but my wife is Viennese so I am accustomed to German and understand a fair bit. Living in Brussels we are surrounded with multi linguals. If I give a dinner party with half a dozen guests it is perfectly normal to have two or three languages going across the table. My children are tri-lingual. They were educated that way deliberately because I think it opens the mind to other ways of thinking and feeling .......

...... like Steve's challenges. Yes.

Re: Challenge 703: Open the garage
First to open the garage was lwc, with a door that rolls up and a car flashing its headlights. I like the garage interior, and the new stone surround. But I have to point out a couple of technical issues: 1. The sides of the stone surround are perpendicular to the wall, as evidenced by the one on the left. In which case, we really shouldn’t be able to see the one on the right at all, from this angle. 2. The sliding door. It jumps to the right perspective two-thirds of the way up, but… You know what I mean. I like the second entry - great animal movement.

I liked DavidMac's satirical take on the problem of globalisation. Very neat boarding up, and I like the Dali graffiti! And that’s a splendidly populated second entry. A terrific selection of characters here. Is that supposed to be a sloping frame above the Starbucks sign? I like how you’ve turned the sun around, too.

I like how the car in Vibeke's entry is struggling with the narrowness of the entrance - and the cascade of rocks that’s following it our of the garage, as well as the suggestion of the impossible height of the kerb. But I’m a little confused about one point: if the car is going forwards, then why are there skid marks in front of it? And if it’s going backwards, why are the stones cascading forwards? Good to see you’ve experienced this in real life!

A mystical entry from Josephine Harvatt, with the garage clearly a portal to Narnia, or Middle Earth, or possibly even Westeros. Either way, I hope that chap remembers to duck each time he goes through. Has his helmet been knocked off?

A funny image from tooquilos, with a car reversing into the garage - nicely done. Curious position for the occupant of the car, though, right in the middle of the front seat. And with no steering wheel. I like the trail of destruction in the animated version, and good to see that this driver does indeed have a steering wheel. Great story!

An interesting glow underneath GKB's car - an autonomous one, judging from the lack of driver. A very fine garage interior there, too. An absolutely glorious animated version - it really shows how versatile 3D models are. The car movement, especially the way the wheels turn up, is splendid - reminiscent of the amphibious car in that Bond movie. Fantastic, Gordon.

A neatly framed, boarded-up garage from srawland. Could that concrete do with a bit of shading, to prevent it looking so uniform? I like the 60s typography in the animated version, and a fine array of spinning cakes. Is this your love song to confectionery? Very nicely done.

An interesting spin from Mariner, with a bull escaping - very appropriate. I like the new view through the archway. Perhaps a line of hoof prints to show whether the bull has come round the corner or through the arch?

A serious garage from Linda Eckert, very neatly placed on the street. Clever car positioning means you didn’t have to rebuild the whole pavement. But… why is the garage German?

A very curious entry from Jota120. I like the buddhist monks, but two things bother me: why is the front wall paper-thin? And why choose a door that doesn’t fit the opening?

A nicely patched street from dwindt, with a very neat reveal on the brickwork and a well made interior. Don’t apologise for being on-topic, it’s a rarity on this forum!

Re: Challenge 703: Open the garage
Thanks Steve,
Didin't have time to refine entrance unfortunately. It was just going to be a straight closed garage door.

I did think of that and of the resulting cloud of dust trailing behind, but finally decided that my meisterwerk was, er, perfect, the way it was!

Yes the Starbucks came with a sloping top already there. You can see this from its angle relative to the grooves in the facade below. I did think of 'straightening' it but felt it was even less appropriate to its surroundings (Which is of course the whole point) left as it was. The turnaround of the sun was to match the Starbucks. Its a terrible cheat relative to the wall but it seemed to work.

I was lucky last week to have a bit of time on my hands to devote this one. Glad you liked it. It was fun to do.

Thank you, Steve. Californians would be very familiar with "got milk?" as it is an advertising campaign by the California Milk Producers Board. It started in 1993 and was national from 1995-2014. It's still running in California where it has been credited with greatly increasing milk consumption in the state. However, it didn't seem to have the same effect on the rest of the country. Here is a link to some of their best commercials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PAj5X4oYro

Re: Challenge 703: Open the garage
Thanks Steve,
My thoughts were that the car is backing into the wall at speed, so the rocks are flying in all directions.

1. I noted that but ignored it... I'm not sure why. Maybe I thought that it would just go away. 2. I do know what you mean... I should have made four transitions (2 up and 2 down) but simply didn't. Actually I made none at all.

Thanks for the critique, always appreciated.
