Challenge 716: A curious tree
I discovered this tree in the woods above Portmeirion, the town where the 60s TV series The Prisoner was filmed. Perfect for a treehouse, don't you think? Or could you put it to some other use? High res is here. |

The tree has been transplanted in Poland to be with it's cousins... |

Having spent the last 3 weekends felling a very large tree in my garden then cutting logs and shredding twigs, this challenge was an obvious choice. You could say I saw the light, literally. |

Re: Challenge 716: A curious tree
A SHORT HISTORY OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS IN ADVERTISING This is vaguely on topic. It's an idea that's been rattling around in my head for ever. Steve's image provided the trigger to finally give it some shape. Apologies for the multiple images. (Hosted off site Steve). Even if you have no specific experience of the follies of advertising agencies and their clients, if you have done any kind of creative work for commercial clients you will likely recognise this. Those of you who come from other fields entirely may well find parallel echoes in your own business. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Love your Monster Loyd!! Amazing what mirroring can do. It's great fun on faces too. Results can be quite surprising. We are much less symmetrical than we like to believe. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Who would have thought such a lovely tree could inspire so many spooky entries? Mine is hopefully more magical than sinister _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Challenge 716: A curious tree
Thanks David... When I first mirrored the tree I thought of a 'cape buffalo', then one thing led to another and it just evolved into what you see. Your marketing idea reminds me of a seminar I attended many years ago in Chicago. One morning we were split into several groups. Some groups was given a wooden clothespin and other groups a plastic clothespin. We were challenged to develop the features and benefits of either plastic or wood and make a presentation... 'imported hardwoods, precision milled notches, virgin polymers, high strength spring steel, etc. btw- no telling what would have come from your engineering dept., not to mention legal... good stuff, well done! |
