Challenge 726: The fortune teller
I spotted this splendid fortune-telling machine on the seafront in Hastings recently, but sadly I wasn't able to get a photograph of it that avoided the glaring reflections.

Can you help me to make this the photo I wanted to take?

High res is here.

I love old automata too.

But as a challenge this is really nasty. Which side of bed did you get out of this morning ...........?

I wasn't expecting anyone to follow my instructions! Do with it as you will.

Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead)
Darryl Hannah
Rahm Emmanuel
Boris Yeltsin

Harold Lloyd
Jesse James

Re: Challenge 726: The fortune teller
Interesting list. I knew about Gary Burghoff, Jerry Garcia, Darryl Hannah, Lee Van Cleef and of course Harold Lloyd (what he could do was amazing).

As an aside, my dad lost half a thumb to the fan blade of a 1928 Dodge oilfield truck...

Might as well post a really quick and totally cheated entry while I'm here... reflections begone!!

The resemblance is uncanny .... for those who don't know, Paul Hollywood is a judge on a baking competition: "The Great British Bake off". I got him a plaster for that bad finger too ...

... and let's not forget one of the best ever Irish comedians, Dave Allen.

I thought I would try a bit of lighting and shading. I really must stop playing with this image.

Thanks Loyd
I wasn't going to do an animation this week but the combination of an idea that wouldn't go away and a very rainy day persuaded me otherwise.

VADOMA
From a gypsy name website:

VADOMA: Possibly a Romani feminine form of Russian 'Vadim", a name which some etymologists believe must have it's root in Slavic vadit, vedet, or wiedziec, meaning "to know," because pagan magicians were called veduny, "the knowing ones."

This was a real pain in the... neck. I had it mostly finished but decide to complete the remaining work Saturday morning. When I opened the file in my gif editor it immediately crashed and I couldn't get the editor to work with anything. After some poking around I found that during the night Microsoft had done one of their infamous Windows 10 updates... it corrupted the entire folder containing the fortune teller files. I finally had to delete the entire folder, dump most of the win10 update to get my editor running again. Everything's okay now, but I had to start this entry totally over today from scratch... dang Microsoft. As a last resort I turned off the automatic update function, the prior win10 update also caused a bunch of unwanted issues.
