Lovely Anna. Not sure I understand why the ship in the bottle but it's beautifully done. Very clever the way you have dealt with the tree problem for the move in. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Nice work Anna, and very nice Michael I should be back to normal next week, but I have still managed an animation. |

Re: Challenge 728: The fifth plinth
First to fill the plinth was Ben Mills, with a splendidly portly Trump sitting neatly on top - great that you managed to find such a good angle, looking up at him. Perhaps add a touch of green to match the mould on the plinth? More politics, this time from DavidMac - with our own Theresa May in proud Boadicea mode. I like the staining on the text - very appropriate. Very gloopy melting in the second entry; shades of Planet of the Apes, I feel. A fine spinning logo from lwc, with a neat pumpkin-headed man next to it. Spooky stuff! And that’s a great angel on the side. And I enjoyed the second entry, with its rain-beaten Trafalgar Square. Four horsemen, indeed. That’s a rather grisly scene in the third entry - I recommend pepto-bismol. A glorious image from Ben Boardman, featuring Trump and Putin in Brokeback Mountain mode. I wish I could read all the text on the plinth! Nostalgic fun from GKB (I used to prize my Thunderbird 2 model as a kid). A splendid opening top on the plinth, and great to see International Rescue taking on the Death Star. I like the guest appearance by Scott Tracey. Fantastic! And I promise not to mention the dodgy perspective when the rocket is inside the plinth. Oops. A zombie-ridden entry from Josephine Harvatt, using a neat trick of inverting the original to make it more spooky. What, is it Halloween already? I liked Deborah Morley’s entry, mainly for the magnificent Damien Hirst sculpture - one of these days I hope to get to Ilfracombe to see it. It is vast, you know, and seems magnificent. Another pre-Halloween taster, this time from tooquilos, with an overgrown square and a thoroughly nasty-looking witch. A great intro to the animated version, continuing with a glorious clock (love that pendulum). A very fine parallax effect on the track-in to the plinth. Is there a significance to the ship in the bottle? A beautifully renovated plinth from Mariner, celebrating the demise of Big Mac. Have you been tinkering with 3D modelling for the logo? That’s a very neat technique. A scene of much charm from michael sinclair, with a well-placed Buddha and a very neatly breathing tiger. Love those ripples. Most enjoyable, Michael. A First World War memorial from Jota120, with someone rather improbably climbing it. Surely that right hand needs to lift up so it’s gripping the ledge above him? A good angle on the statues, though. Looking forward to your next entry, Sophie. |

Thank you all for your great comments Thank you Steve In regards to the bottle, I recall some years ago, seeing on the news a ship in a bottle on the plinth in Trafalgar Square. I used that as my inspiration. _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Thanks Steve, with modern slick climbing shoes its amazing what small deviations you can climb on, but after finished it, I also think moving the arm to pull up on the platform would have helped to be more convince and dynamic. |

Re: Challenge 728: The fifth plinth
I think we will have to agree to disagree about the statue. I saw it in Ilfracombe this summer and it is truly horrendous. It really does look like something from Alien. If I had been arriving there by boat I would have turned round and left having seen that. And lowering the plinth and rebuilding the background worked? |

Re: Challenge 728: The fifth plinth
Have to agree Deborah. I saw it in June and even nice weather didn't do anything to enhance it. Your 'Alien' analogy sums it up for me. _________________ |

Thanks Steve. I had such a great time putting this one together. I got to be 10 years old again for a while.
Oops indeed ... but then, what does a 10-year old know about perspective? _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |
