Re: Challenge 735: Josephine's tree
I laughed out loud at DavidMac's entry, with its tree suspended from a chain - and reaching cat, and artfully rebuilt bookshelves. Very fine paper angels, too. And good to see the fire engine from our Christmas meet in the second entry - with a very neatly stuck kitten.

A profusely bedecked tree from Frank, but it hasn’t stopped the dog doing what dogs do to trees. I like the shadows, and the antlers. Pushing the background out of focus does help the tree stand out, but you’d need a very specialist lens to get that effect.

A tasteful tree from Vibeke, with added wildlife - that monkey is especially appealing. I like the bucket, and the overall warmth of the scene. Could the bucket have had a reflection, do you think?

It’s hard to fully appreciate Mariner's entry without first checking out the original drawing - the amount of work needed to extend the background is astonishing, inventing an entire room, let alone squaring up the bookcase as well. Glorious, Michael.

A floral offering from tooquilos, with a lens flare on top - very pretty. Beautiful title lettering in the animated version, and the view of Josephine outside the cafe (I’ve been to that cafe) is splendid. I like the idea of Josephine digging a hole for the tree! Excellent.

A guest appearance from Rudolf in GKB's entry - plenty of reflections, and that tree does make rather fine antlers. A curiously miniature Santa who can barely reach the door handle - no wonder he comes down the chimney. I like the sleigh.

Plenty of wildlife from Jota120, with the elephant perched in the chair and, bizarrely, clutching a model of (I think) Uranus. I really like the way the tree is growing through the wall, and the aquarium. But remember, a window will always look more window-like when it’s glazed:

A festive animation from lwc, with nicely placed coloured spotlights in the base of the tree. I like the flickering candles and the falling snow - very nicely done. A rather bare tree, though!

A twinkly animation from srawland, with delicate lights on the tree - and I like the new background and starry sky. A fine choice of music, too. Kept waiting for an elf to come in and smash something!

Thanks, Josephine, for the great starting images.

Thank you Steve. This one was easy and fun. Relaxing. Thank you Josephine and good to meet you finally.

Re: Challenge 735: Josephine's tree
Thanks Steve.
Good point. I'd glazed the side window but didn't consider doing the main window. Work flow issue, side window was added later, main window came first and entrenched I guess.
The planet is Jupiter. Bit amazing the "Red Spot" in reality is the size of Earth.
Rather than fish tanks they are apertures into windows onto the continuation of the view outside, but it did trouble me how to make that look convincing, so I'll settle for fish tanks

Thanks Steve! I guess I took your statement, "no shop-bought decorations allowed", a bit too literally...

also, thanks in advance for any future "cutouts" that you might like to provide.

Thanks Steve, yes I wanted to through that background out of focus a bit to make the tree stand out but overdid it.

Re: Challenge 735: Josephine's tree
Thank you, Steve. What I was going to do was after they finished blinking, have the lights fly off the tree and out of the scene as the sound of sleigh bells grew louder. Once they were all gone the sleigh bells would stop and a hearty "HO, HO" followed by a disappointed "oh" and then a lump of coal would clatter onto the floor and slide up to the tree. I hope Josephine won't be offended by this. However, she might welcome any coal she can get given what's going on with the Brexit negotiations.
