I think most of us are old enough to remember this.

Sorry about the quality of the opening but I couldn't find a higher resolution.

I loved that show. Jim Henson death was a great loss.

Thank you Anna. It was really fun to do. As ever your animation is impressive. Especially the windblown beginning.

I have to agree the forum does bring out some unexpected talent from people who, for the most part, just do it for the sheer reward of doing. So good to see. And so much we owe Steve for being the motivator that holds it all together.

Better late than never - with apologies to the shade of Maxfield Parrish - not perfect but as good as I can make it.

Another brilliant video from Anna, so well linked to the music and superb sound effects.

I had to switch to YouTube because I used up my free storage space on Vimeo.

David illustrated
(Nigella) eats butter, meat, chocolate and desserts...also washed down with copious amounts of wine.

and, allegedly, frequent use of cocaine and marijuana. Wow.

Most are from "The Knave of hearts" but his commercial illustrations are similar in tone

Re: Challenge 737: Return to Ickworth
Happy new year everyone!

The first entry of this Challenge was a quickie from lwc - can’t see much kitchen there, but I do like the steam rising off that pasta. Not tempted to return for a second helping, Loyd?

A nicely relocated hearth from Frank, neatly replacing that dresser: I like the way you’ve retained the row of copper saucepans. Excellent lighting, too, and a good addition of posters. Thoroughly convincing.

An extraordinary extension of the room from DavidMac, extrapolating the original perspective to tremendous effect. I really like that galleried ceiling, too. Great to see your Escher monks milling around! A terrific achievement. I like the homage to Upstairs, Downstairs in the second entry. It was a great series, and you’ve captured it nicely.

It’s not often we get to see Mariner's work in progress, so it’s particularly interesting to see the beginnings of the recreation here. Although how you made the mental leap from there to the full entry with Nigella Lawson as the sole bidder for a copper kettle is beyond me… but beautifully accomplished, with perfect poses from all the characters. Small point: I’d tone down that purple top she’s wearing, as it seems too saturated to be real.

A glorious recreation of the Muppets’ chicken in a basket sketch from GKB, complete with the Swedish chef. And thanks for repeating the title sequence in full - I’ve missed it!

A mischievous entry from Ben Mills, with the chefs turning to frozen ready meals. Is the one in the background painting her toenails? And don’t want to be picky here, but surely the woman on the left is a doctor, rather than a chef?

A candlelit scene from tooquilos, with a nicely mismatched array of chairs. Great to start with the exterior of Ickworth House in the animated version - I like how the tree moves in front of the title. A great storm effect, and a cosy room with the fireplace ingeniously converted from the gamekeeper’s bedroom. What a touching sentiment at the end. Lovely.

A lone baker from Jota120, the loaves fitting in well with the perspective of the table. Has one of them slipped behind that right hand breadboard? I feel we need to see a loaf sticking up over the edge.

Plenty of Maxfield Parrish cooks from Josephine Harvatt, looking very appealing in this space. I like the way you’ve dealt with his curious habit of either having people face on or in full profile - neatly worked around!

A wartime movie from srawland, starting with a convincing squadron of bombers over the white cliffs of Dover. The animations for the Fuse characters are really well chosen, and that’s a great spotlight scene. Good to see the post box from some months back making an appearance at the end, too. And as ever, it’s the richly layered soundtrack that really ties everything together. Excellent.

What fun.

Ah yes. It's so obvious now you mention it.
Thanks Steve, for your unusually long and generous critique.

Re: Challenge 737: Return to Ickworth
Thanks Steve. I debated with myself about how much of the Muppets intro to use. In the end I just thought what the heck , it’s Christmas just use the lot.

Glad you didn’t ask where Kermit’s voice or the chicken sound effects came from

Ah yes. Found them. I have to confess I didn't know this work at all - only his more romantic images.
