Challenge 749: Guess the weight of the jockey
I found myself in the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket one rainy Sunday a couple of months ago. Mostly interesting, a bit too much emphasis on horseracing for my liking.

One exhibit that really intrigued me was this elegant mahogany and leather chair, which was used for weighing jockeys before the race.

Can you think of a better use for this rather fine piece of furniture?

High res is here.

I am intrigued by the idea that the National Horseracing Museum had "a bit too much emphasis on horse racing".

Practicing to join the current parliament are we Steve?

Re: Challenge 749: At the Races
New to horse racing, Captain Lee failed to fully comprehend the proper usage of some the equipment .........

Knowing Steve loves a good pun, using Captain Lee for a third time in a row will open the door for him indulge in something along the line of "flogging dead horses" in his critique.

This came to me while I was walking my dog and I couldn't get it out of my head.

Removed and replaced below.

Re: Challenge 749: Guess the weight of the jockey
i thought that I should point out that only crash-test dummy horses were used in these trials and no real horses were harmed.

Amended video to show the survival of the brave jockey.

Re: Challenge 749: MP's outraged by new "bullshit" chairs.
MP’s expressed outrage at the installation of new seating at Westminster which incorporates an accurate weighing device for measuring the quantity of hypocrisy and cant of its occupier.

Boris Johnson was deeply critical of a “biased instrument which gives unfair advantage to ability and integrity”.

Jacob Rees Mogg described it as a “plebeian ploy to rob the aristocracy of their God given birthright to superiority and condescension.”

Jeremy Corbyn seemed dismayed that it "cuts at the very foundation of fence sitting".

Nigel Farage had little to add as he was in Strasburg ensuring that his minimal contribution and attendance to the EU parliament still qualified for expenses and that he didn't have to join the overwhelming throngs of the hundred strong "Leave means Leave" march.

Theresa May was unavailable for comment but a spokesperson said "I think we may be reasonably certain that Mrs May is bound to feel that anything that is able to produce judgement without the need for human empathy cannot be entirely a bad thing”.

Certainly, as can be seen from the photo below, knowing that they will be assessed in this impartial manner appears to promise a profound effect upon MP’s attendance.

I very, very rarely get worked up about politics, so my apologies for an entry that has minimal graphic merit and, if I am honest, is little more than simply me venting my frustration at the truly shameful and morally bankrupt state of the current British Government and Parliament.

End of rant!!

That's better!

Thank you Loyd, David and Michael.

I think that my therapist would like to have a quiet word with me sometime soon.

... methinks you doth endow them with far too much credit.

If I had a trainee in ATC that showed this much competency he would have been removed instantaneously never to darken the radar room again.

Isn't one of the definitions of madness 'doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result every time?'

Love this Frank.

In Canada this would be a big shabby old naugahyde reclining "lazyboy".

You have perfectly created the British "stiff upper lip" version.
