Challenge 755: UFO response unit
I spotted this curious vehicle near the American air base in Mildenhall, Suffolk, a couple of weeks ago.

Can you give it something to respond to?

High res is here.

Not very happy with this. Rather dull and static. But posting anyway.

From the VIEWPOINT of the VIEWER, the green ufo is not moving because it's keeping a perfect distance from the grouind; however, the slightly undulating ground will affect the ufo's shadow. I'm sure someone might punctiliously point out that I had forgotten to move the green ufo.

If I have time later on in the week I might fiddle with the lights.

Gordon I think you have excelled yourself! That's really quick for what must have been quite a lot of work. The car being zapped into wireframe is truly inspired.

Very atmospheric Frank. Faint shades of Jordan Cronenweth's wonderful photography of the original Bladerunner.

Re: Challenge 755: UFO response unit
Back to my boyhood comics!

This is definitely not my finest work! But I don’t care …. Steve can shred it to his hearts content. It’s really, really stupid, but I haven’t had so much sheer FUN doing a challenge for a long time.

The silliest part was inventing green Venusians (why are Venusians always traditionally green?). They are re-tinted anatomical muscle charts with lettuce leaves for ‘hair’ and then shrink wrapped. I think it's probably quite hard to get much sillier than that.

For those who remember such things the flying saucer is a toy that was modelled after the very suspect 'genuine' photographs by George Adamski taken in the late 50s early 60s. He claimed to have photographed spaceships from other planets, met with friendly Nordic alien Space Brothers, and to have taken flights with them to the Moon and other planets.

Thank you David, the background image is outside Paris and was shot by photographer Serge Ramelli - I purchased one of his huge PS courses which comes with many beautiful images , brushes, skies, etc.
Your "wife snatchers" is rather cheeky I'd say and sometimes the name of the game is to just have fun. I think we all have fun creating,
I agree Gordon's animations (like Anna's) are great.

Nice work Gordon

I've done some more work for this animation, so I'm reposting

Very nice Micheal. The lightning masks the loop very nicely. Big improvement. A sky at infinity wouldn't move like that but somehow it works artisticaly.

To my eye their is something not quite right in the perspective and shadow of the UFO. Perhaps it's just alien.

Re: Challenge 755: UFO response unit
Thanks for your comments guys. I had a lot of fun putting this one together.

For those not aware, the background image is of Devil's Tower in Wyoming which is where the climax of 'Close Encounters' was filmed.

Nice work from everyone. David you have managed something that I have often wanted to do, and that is to put Robbie the Robot into a Friday Challenge.

Wonderful work everyone!

I have also found this weeks challenge to be great fun and highly addictive... so far I have completed eighteen entries. Ten are just variations on a theme, this one of them. I get into trouble sometimes for making too many... deciding on which one to post is often the most difficult task for me.
