Re: Challenge 756: Pichi business

Thanks Loyd, good luck with the weather.

David I have just realized what you meant about the feet being on sideways. I am just amazed how blind I can be sometimes.

The feet (toes) are the same on all sides (360°)... and that's my opinion.

The hyper-dwarf pichi-wig. Mostly unknown, but actually quite common in South America.

Well, every tornado has a silver lining.. Loyd, your pichi-wig is a perfect match to David’s hair growth creatures.. all utterly convincing!

Thanks Eva and Josephine... kinda makes your ears tingle doesn't it.

I learn something with every WC - the armadillo is the only animal outside of the human that can carry leprosy. Citizens of Texas have been warned not to kiss any armadillos... lol.

I've had a bad week. First the water pump went out on my car, and then I had to take the cat in to the vet. The cat is still with us, but its only a matter of time. I only have the energy this week for a still.

You are very brave, Loyd. Tornadoes really frighten me. I'd be spending all my time in a basement.

The vicunas have a wonderful 'Where the hell's he got to?' look about them.

Re: Challenge 756: Pichi business
First to tackle the pichi was DavidMac, with a splendid cross-section turning it into a Peachi. Beautifully done - and there’s something truly convincing about the peach stone as a heart. A remarkably cute second entry: neatly closed eye, and nicely tucked up. And a very clever third entry, woven into an ad for hair restorer. Might just want to lower the contrast on the pichi a touch to match the hedgehog.

Insertion into a Harry Potter spin-off from Josephine Harvatt, making it a magical creature indeed. I like the white dots that surround it, although shouldn’t a few appear in front of it to blend it in?

A fun animation from GKB, playing on my recently finished mural. Love the unexpected leap, and the splashes. Hope Sylvia didn’t mind the wait for Wales!

A variety of pichi-like creatures from Ant Snell - or are they all pichis from different images? If not, there appears to be a bit of cross breeding going on. Like the pied piper, but think he could do better than a plastic school recorder.

An interesting choice of pet from lwc, very convincingly put together. The distance of the shadow from the girl’s arm suggests she’s patting it, rather than cuddling it - is that what you meant? A rather glorious second entry, the pichi making an excellent steed. Perfect fit of the harness, and I like how it tucks under the shell. A subtle animation in the third entry, particularly the twitching tail. And there it is again in the fourth entry - but beware of using the same foreground grass three times. That’s what Puppet Warp is for. I like the way the eye and teeth transform it into a more vicious beastie in the fifth entry, although if I was that man I’d be running like hell rather than shrugging. A fine response from DavidMac, too, with a well resurrected old joke. I like the fact that it’s barely visible in the sixth entry, and that it’s still animated (but tiny) as an earwig in the seventh entry. You’ve made Forum history by submitting an eighth entry - but it’s a tremendous piece of work: the background movement in particular is ingeniously worked out in perspective. Tremendous week, Loyd!

A glorious pichi race from Frank, with churning dust behind it - and a well chosen child rider too. Very entertaining, Frank.

I really enjoyed Eva Roth’s entry, based on my French mural - those picnics are perfectly adapted to the environment, beautifully integrated into the scene. Immaculate moving of the wine glasses, too, and bonus points for tilting the surface in the one in the pichi’s hand. Claw. Whatever. You’re on sparkling form, Eva!

A military animation from michael sinclair, the oversized helmet turning the pichis into a form of tank. Intriguing concept. From this low angle of view, though, shouldn’t the rear helmet be lower than the front one?

Not just any old fruit bowl, but a peach bowl from Mariner - and what a fate for an endangered animal. There’s a real metallic look to that shell that works very well. Just one thing: shouldn’t we be seeing those feet from the side, rather than from the front?

I love how tooquilos has turned my mural into a three dimensional chessboard - what a good idea (perspective issues notwithstanding). Great smashed glass in the museum scene, and the veiled moral is full of expectation. And what a great reveal: the animated water is terrific, and I like how those chess pieces fly in. Hate to question your chess tactics, but from here it looks as if the king could just have taken that castle. Fun animation.

A largely concealed pichi from srawland, hidden in the grass. Seems a touch too dark compared to the background; perhaps lower the contrast a little? Sorry you’ve had such a bad week. Best of luck with the cat.

Yes! It's so obvious now: I've had 11 years of this kind of advice, and I still make mistakes, but thank you very much for the free tuition which has given me ability.

Re: Challenge 756: Pichi business
Thanks Steve. Happily Sylvia was already in Wales so there was no need to negotiate time spent on Pichi.

Re: Challenge 756: Pichi business
Thanks Steve. When I first saw the image I thought what the hell can I do with this? I was truly at loss for ideas. Then I thought just leave it alone for day or two and see what comes. Suddenly, and almost immediately, out of nowhere, the ideas came unbidden and unsought for.

Pity it doesn't always work like that!

Thank you, Steve. Glad you noticed the detail on the wine glass. When I saw the pichi image I thought puppet warp! It’ll finally come in handy!

Thanks Steve!

Yes, the girl's lower arm was meant to be slightly away from the pichi's body.

Re: Challenge 756: Pichi business
Thank you Steve. Glad you enjoyed it. I had initial visions of the Pichi playing an entire game but it would take way too long to animate the moving pieces. I know that move wasn't entirely legal but this was Pichi's first game so I cut him some slack
