Me too... good one Ben!

Congratulations to you DavidMac... not official yet, but you will be the new record holder for most entries in a WC.

This one is for Sara ......... in full blown San Fransiscan tradition.

Actually, we do have a polar bear swim on New Year's Day, but most of the participants don't look as good.

Re: Challenge 765: Lark in the Park
First to treat the park this week was DavidMac, with a neatly integrated car park. Swiftly followed by Narc in the park - great characters, bizarre view of the car - and an impressive Barque in the park, with nicely constructed reflections. A fine Ark in the park, but watch your perspective: the woman in the blue shorts is a giant compared to the one in the yellow dress. You need to take the perspective of the boat as your guide. I enjoyed A bottle of Marc after dark in the park, with some splendid poses and a very nicely placed bottle. Is Martini ever called Marc, though? Good lighting. And I can see why you couldn’t resist Narc in the park episode 2. A truly ghastly-looking picnic in Clerk in the park - reminds me why I don’t work in an office. And a brave stab at cross-hatching in the Snark in the Park, with plenty of Lewis Carroll references. You might want to check out some custom Actions for cross-hatching, such as this one. A charming Spark in the park; and a most impressive Arc in the park, a very artfully constructed scene. A surprisingly tasteful Shiver in the river - now you need to delete your browser history.

A crisis/ices rhyme from Ant Snell, neatly avoiding my criticism of the nurse’s position with a deft gag. I doubt that’s the last we’ll see of Boris. On to full pun mode with Lark on a shark in a dark park, which certainly packs in a week’s worth of puns in one image. Not sure about that heavy shadow on the grass on the right; and flipping the shark horizontally would make its lighting direction match the people behind.

A perfectly constructed image from srawland, showing that minimalism is often best: the dog and the hydrant say it all. Expertly drawn shadow. Some splendid puns in the animated version - A terrific overfed lark at the beginning, and I like how the captions come in slowly to give us time to figure out the puns for ourselves. Wouldn’t have guessed Shield on the Field, though.

No doubt feeling that DavidMac had nabbed all the best puns, Ben Mills came up with “Hounds in the recreation grounds” - a good twist. But in order to be sewing the huntsmen from this low angle, they need to be much higher in the scene - unless the rear ones are standing in a ditch. I did enjoy Ken Clarke in the park, though. It took me a while to get the pun in the exclamation mark entry - subtle! I did enjoy the Ferengi image - took me a while to track down that his name was Quark. Cool jacket.

A packed ark from GKB, with a small selection of the animal kingdom going two by two. A great weather warning in the animated version, with splendid rain and a neatly encroaching flood (but don’t fall into the trap of feathering the edge of your water, as water never does that). Most entertaining.

Three puns in one image from lwc, with a curiously pale streaker - a touch more contrast needed on his body, perhaps? I do like the dog, though. I’ve been puzzling over the pun in the foie gras entry: goose on the loose? Gander on a wander? But I was distracted by the frame that comes and goes. I like the up-front character in the Hark at a lark entry. The Spark from the arc is cleverly done - a very convincing stun gun. And I like the way the park has been brought into the background in the Hexed by a text entry. Should I recognise the character in the Snark in the park? And I was expecting a quark, but should I recognise the quarck? A fine animation, either way. I particularly like the flies buzzing around the dog’s head. I’m not familiar with the Studebaker Lark, but I do know a thing or two about perspective… watch those vanishing lines!

Total irrelevance from michael sinclair, who has clearly entered a different Challenge altogether. Still, nice to see some pretty balloons. It’s crowded up there. And an enjoyable second entry, even if it has nothing to do with the theme. Aha! A pun at last, in the truck entry. Excellent spinning wheels. But I am going to have to pick you up on your perspective: since the bottoms of all the wheels are on the same line, they need to be right on the horizon, not below it.

Good to see 70s band Sparks making a guest appearance in Josephine Harvatt’s entry - but those are some pretty hefty shadows they’re subjected to. No brighter picture of them?

A well constructed beach scene from Eva Roth, blending well into the park background. I like the mudlark - but why is he so dark compared to the background?

A gipsy takeover from tooquilos, with the park in the dark - and a packed scene. I really like the slow tracking into the scene in the animated version, especially the glimpse of the tent through the trees. Great to see all those elements brought to life. The self-pouring coffee pot is a fun addition.

A beautifully constructed entry from Frank, with a terrific cast of onlookers as four are sucked into the flying saucer. The billowing smoke, the overall lighting, the alien eyes - really splendid, Frank. Not sure I would have guessed the “Embark in the park” pun if I hadn’t seen it in the image title! A well constructed animated version, too. You’re getting good at this.

A glorious firework entry from Mariner, with a tremendous cast of characters - the band looks great in the tent. Immaculate shadows, and a neatly inconspicuous aardvark seller. I particularly like the glow on the treetops.

Wow. You guys really do like your puns.

The car came with the characters. It is odd. I think the car and narcos were photographed from about chest level and your original is eye level.

but watch your perspective: the woman in the blue shorts is a giant compared to the one in the yellow dress.

Oh dear me yes!

some splendid poses and a very nicely placed bottle. Is Martini ever called Marc, though? Good lighting.

The poses and lighting (drunk included) all came as part of the photograph. It's from a Manchester wedding! All I had to do was add the bottle .......... and its a 100° genuine Marc bottle Steve. Maxime Vieux Marc.

I can see why you couldn’t resist Narc in the park episode 2

Do copies of these go to Giles? He looks to me like the kind of man who would find it vastly amusing.

a brave stab at cross-hatching in the Snark in the Park. You might want to check out some custom Actions for cross-hatching, such as this one.

Thanks for that. I used to have an excellent commercial plug in but it's not upwardly compatible to my new system. I looked at a number of plugins and actions while I was doing my entry but none of them were satisfactory. From the home page this looks really promising. I shall definitely give it try.

Surprisingly tasteful Shiver in the river - now you need to delete your browser history.

One step ahead of you Steve - Private Mode. Despite terms such as 'hiding', 'concealing', 'covered', 'modest', 'back view', etc. the results were "interesting" at times .........!

Thanks Steve. I feathered the edge of the water so that I could have a little bit of transparency to show the people, tents etc under the water but I take your point.

But surely that's part of Eva's pun - the dark mudlark in the park?

Was more of a rhyme than a pun... river, sliver, goose liver.

No, I just needed someone who looked 'grumpy' for the snark.

Thanks Steve.

Re: Challenge 765: Lark in the Park
Thank you Steve, but I must confess, I didn't draw the shadow. The original image was on a green AstroTurf surface. I simply used Quick Mask and grey brush instead of black and captured the original shadow.

Thanks for overlooking all the problems with the animation.

Re: Challenge 765: Lark in the Park
Thanks Steve, the animation part is slow coming as I have little time in the summer months to play at the computer - camping, beer drinking, enjoying no snow to shovel.
