Challenge 766: Plantin's workshop
I'm indebted to DavidMac for this week's Challenge: a view of the workshop of 16th century printer and publisher Christophe Plantin, which is now a museum in Antwerp. You can read more about this extraordinary man here. Your mission: show how this room would have looked in Plantin's day. High res is here. |

Steve, was it wise to accept this picture from David? I mean, he will already have prepared N different versions and could bang them all in before breakfast. Just kidding. |

Re: Challenge 766: Plantin's workshop
Oh you cynic! Nothing prepared. I am not even sure whether a proposer should participate. In any event my son arrives at the weekend to stay for a week with his two kids. So I am going to be very busy. Any entry is going to be nominal ......... ....... and don't look so sceptical! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

The workshop is going to slow down the pace of entries this week for sure. I could enter one now if I move only the light... |

Ye olde coppe outte.
Despite Mariners fears I really didn't have anything prepared and I really don't have any time this week. So this little piece of pure evasion is all you're going to see from me. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 766: Plantin's workshop
BTW Steve, I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to try out the engraver plugin. It's very hard to find source materiel of 16th century printers except in engravings. So to make everything an engraving made sense. Sadly it proved to be a disappointment. Not really usable - at least not for this image. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Before you dash off David, would you like to tell me what those three black boxes are. They look like loudspeakers, but if so, why so many? |

My guess is they're shutters for the lower part of the windows. |

Re: Challenge 766: Plantin's workshop
Oh shoot! Just noticed something........... Every single one of us so far, myself included, seems to feel that 16th century Antwerp was sufficiently advanced technologically to have central heating radiators!! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
