Quickie addition to a quickie
Craig may be more believable but Connery cast the mould and set the standard .............

Re: Challenge 783: Carpet fitting
First to replace the floor this week was Born2Run, with a fantastic Starbucks entry. Chris, I’m really impressed with this: the perspective of the Starbucks building is perfect, and the extra touch are spot on: the reflection of the castle in the Starbucks window, the sign behind the drawbridge, the table, the shadows - even the parked car. You haven’t lost your touch in your absence!

Saturated colours, girls in bikinis: it has to be Ben Mills, with a grassy floor and some particularly rampant foliage. I like how it winds through the archways. Small point: the girl on the far left should be a little bigger, as she’s nearer the camera.

Despite his initial promise of a wrecking ball, michael sinclair has produced a dramatic animation. The waves are particularly nicely worked out. The only thing I’d question is the perspective of the castle; at this distance, it would be much less pronounced.

A stunning interior from DavidMac, with intelligent interpretation of the confusing perspectives: realising that the left arch was on higher ground was the key to making this work, I suspect. This is a beautiful image, David, full of detail and intrigue; why are you unhappy with it? A fun second entry - you just need to make the perspective of the rocket tower match the castle:

…although you definitely score point by including Connery in the third entry.

Some new (and very French) towers from tooquilos, the floor now replaced by a beautiful reflecting lake. The new trees and sky also help to build the atmosphere. The view through the new arch, though, should perhaps be more in shadow. An interesting approach to the animated version, with subtle water rippling and a series of beautiful images.

A complex renovation from Frank, with a fine array of builders and their machinery - and, indeed, a very neatly-fitted new floor. The shadows are works of art. There’s a lot to study here, and some glorious details. Small point, though: the perspective on the right hand side of the scaffolding tower is rather too extreme:

A well-chosen floor from new5588, using appropriate material and with neatly reconstructed shadows - it really is worth the effort. Worth checking out DavidMac’s comment on the first page of this Challenge, where he talks about the difference in floor levels. Interesting name you have there, new.

I hugely enjoyed lwc's aquarium entry, with its multitude of fish, waving plant life, rising bubbles and shimmering water effect. Really mesmerising, Loyd, I could watch this for hours.

A rather cheeky entry from Eva Roth, whose pile of rugs obstinately ignores the shadows and angle of view, and makes the castle look like it has been plonked down on top of them. There is something cute about the idea, though.

A spectacular rebuild from Mariner, who has painstakingly rebuilt the castle from scratch - as far as I can see, only the barred window and the drawbridge supports remain from the original. A very fine accomplishment, and the golf flag is a neat touch.

On revisiting I was much happier with it. It wasn't so much the image that disappointed me as the bumbling and fumbling getting there. I was over confident. Perspective and light are what I like to think of as my stronger points, but this one was like pulling teeth. It was so much harder than I expected. On the other hand it's not a bad thing to have the ego bruised a bit now and again.

A fun second entry - you just need to make the perspective of the rocket tower match the castle:

You are quite right. I was far too rushed to spot it. It really was a half hour quickie and the lion's share of that was finding and perspective matching the steel hatch. Not easy. By the time I had dropped the missile into place Ingrid was calling "I'M HUNGRY!" and "I need a cocktail!". So I had to drop all, post it as it was and depart for kitchen duties. Connery was an after dinner thought on the way to bed.

Thanks Steve, I agree, I had adjusted that but obviously not quite enough.
