Challenge 789: The Opera House
The newly-built opera house in Tenerife is an astonishing construction, echoing Sydney Opera House but taking the whole curved concrete thing so much further. It's a truly beautiful building, as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. To my eye, though, it looks like - well, never mind what it looks like to me. What does it look like to you? High res is here. |

Really good idea, David! I have done one with a similar theme. Mine has a boat in it. |

Thank you. I was afraid you would point out the nautical silliness and inconsistencies. But it was fun to do. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Version 2 Replaced paddle wheel with something more minimalist and less traditional. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Frank - you've been playing a lot with Hit Film and it shows. I like the way that you used the keyframing to get the flying saucers to accelerate rather than just fly off at a constant speed. And the colour grading is excellent. Great idea to copy and flip the opera house the way you did. Very nicely conceived and executed. _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |

Best I have ever seen from you Frank! Love the clever mirroring of the building and a splendid new render too. Great atmosphere. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Thanks Gordon and David, just took my time and played with it - learned a few new things along the way, great fun. As usual Gordon, the end product is a totally different concept from what I had in mind when starting - my first idea was the crown on a dinosaurs head - parasaurolophus |

Wow there's some ingenious entries this week. I love the paddle boat. It reminds me of a floating Willy Wonka factory. Frank, looks like we have had the same idea! However, your entry is so beautifully executed. The atmosphere is inspiring. I love it. http://vimeo.com/386355508 _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Another symmetrical assembly. After 'inflation' it becomes a four way symmetry. Very nice Anna. Love the underwater too. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
