Challenge 797: Fancy a bier?
There's a disused church in Suffolk that makes an extraordinary visit - its 16th century pews are still there, as is a 14th century parish chest. Among the leftover pieces of ecclesiastical bricabrac I found this Victorian bier. Can you show how it might have been used? An interesting cutout job - I wonder if the lower half of the wheels could be rebuilt from pieces higher up. High res is here. |

Let's see... Four X (Anna), Stella Artois (David), Molsons (Frank), Budweiser for our American friends, London Pride (Steve), and who knows what for everyone else? |

Re: Challenge 797: BEER BIER
Given how many of us are no longer in the first flush of youth this is very gallows humour .......... Tomorrow Belgium goes into partial shutdown. The government has ordered that all shops, bars, restaurants, schools, colleges and other 'public' places are to be closed. Only food and other essential shops will open during the week. Public transport will run, but no details yet. Lots of offices and businesses are sending people home. Workers in the EU parliament and commission are being told to keep all their work on their laptops and to take them home every night so if necessary, they can be told not to come in and to work from home. Today the supermarkets have put security on the doors to control numbers admitted at any one time. A lot of panic buying is going on as we are being encouraged to stay at home. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

David and Loyd: Well done - great presentation of your messages - in short free beer creates large gatherings which is what our grim reaper (Covid -19) desires; and the Holy Grail of these times "arse wipe" - go figure. Gordon - nicely done, good choice of music and sound effects, and that background has the infrared look to it ? |

Yes it’s an infrared shot of a church about 10 miles from me that I took a couple of years ago. I had been looking on the internet for a suitable graveyard shot when I remembered this series of images. After a quick tweak with a curves adjustment layer to darken things up a bit and drop in an oversized moon I got what I wanted. _________________ Time flies like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana. |

Very funny Loyd. Love it! To say nothing of a neat way of avoiding cutting out the bier ......... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Michael, no FourX for me..strictly soda water and if I'm feeling adventurous I'll have a lemonade Gordon I love the infrared image of the churchyard. Beautiful. The Corona coffin is great David! Loyd - brilliant. So little says so much! _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! And your little dog, too! |

Re: Challenge 797: Fancy a bier?
http://vimeo.com/398172412 This week's challenge is more of a social statement from me. I don't generally rant or buy into frenzy but this current situation with the virus has left me speechless and questioning. This world wide hysteria of hoarding and amassing toilet paper is unprecedented and I really can't understand why toilet paper has been elevated to such a valued commodity. It's become the new currency. Worth and value seems to be determined on how many rolls you have in your possession. In the meantime, it does absolutely nothing to counteract or protect against the virus. Let's hope things start to settle down soon and that everyone we know and love are ok. _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Me neither, especially when there's plentiful alternative available courtesy of Rupert Murdoch. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
