Loyd, I love it; however, it's that fantastic volcano that steals the show here; moreover, by moving the dragon slightly to the right or left we could appreciate your volcano even more.

Dennis, FANTASTIC!!! is it possible to "posturize" the sky to match the dragon?

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
Michael... look again, replaced animation with your suggestion. This was made on a lark anyway, so changing it was easy to do.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
On a lark describes something that is done on the spur of the moment, something that is done spontaneously and for fun. Something done on a lark has not been planned, but may be considered irresponsible in a fun way and childlike. The word lark in the term on a lark is used to mean frolicking or playing.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
Dennis your second dragon is, to my eye, far better than your previous dragon. The pose is really dynamic.

Unlike Michael, I feel that the fact that you haven't touched the sky is what makes this so good. The dragon looks rough and scaly and the clouds soft and fluffy. This really pops him out and underlines his hard texture.

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
Okay, now that it's not the wee hours of the morning, I can recognise all the wonderful images.

Lloyd, wow, so many lovely clips. I'm amazed at how quickly you can pump them out.

David, using a grey scale background and blending it with color to sync the dragon and image together, was a clever touch. I battled with the metal dragon color. I also tried to get it airborne, which was a great challenge. I couldn't get the legs to lag behind in a suitable pose for flight. I found lowering the dragon to the ground and changing his legs into a dog like sprint, gave a tremendous, aggressive, speed like stance...so that's what I went with. I don't know whether I've given up on the flying bit yet. Time will tell. Your second image is very satisfying...and recognising the rocket blast off in your third "Linda Lovelace" rendition, cracked me up. It's very pleasing but I haven't been able to envisage the correct direction of the blast off since my initial introduction to it. Lovely stuff...

Clever move swopping the wings Michael. Hope you're feeling a lot better. I did take you up on your suggestion of posturising the sky in my 2nd image...and then softened it a tad. Nice suggestion. Thank you.

Lovely video Anna. I like how you managed to bash the gorilla up...and the Royal dragon with his distinctive "forked tongue!" lol.

Nice 1 Ant. A real dragon's chili shot.

Frank, 2 dark images in successive weeks...but they're great images. Well done.

and again Lloyd. Your clips are so pleasing to watch.

Aren't you all proud of me? Only Photoshop...

Although the 3rd image based on Michael's good suggestion is more visually pleasing that the 2nd, it binds the dragon to the background and seems to lose that sense of speed. David's photographic eye most probably sensed this. The 2nd some how seems quicker...or am I imagining it?

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
I like them both Dennis... difficult for me to say that one is better than the other, just different.

Thanks, I can 'crank them out', because I save them as projects before they are exported to gifs. Easy to change a background, remove something, or add something. The volcano for example is less than an hours effort, finished, saved as gif, and uploaded to the image host...

Draginvaders - could be another late night coming up. I'm on leave so no rushing off to work at unearthly hours. Party hard during the day, design at night. Yeah!

Re: Challenge 974: Heavy metal
These are both really good Dennis.

I do think in the plane image that the post production effect on the dragon, that was so effective in the fiery images, looks a bit too obvious here. It works but, purely personally, I would pull it back just a tiny bit because the rest, however improbable, looks so real.

Turning our point of view to look up at the dragon in the ship image is a stroke of real brilliance! I wish I'd thought of that!

Interesting. In England they would say "It was done for a lark". It means done as joke or for a laugh. Not necessarily spontaneously. A lark can be well planned if needed.

I flipped the one head to. Gives a better sense of the dragon searching the environment for more enemy.

I do like both the later efforts better. It's a lovely image.
