A magical slant on bubbles I have never seen before.
We have had a number of posts here on the nature of bubbles and spheres but this video is something quite magical I have never seen before.

That's really extraordinary. If someone had posted it here I'd have said it's a pity about the jagged edge on the animation, but it seems this is for real... amazing.

Beautifully amazing. And such a simple concept.

Beautiful indeed. I would have thought its not possible, water expands and becomes less dense as it freezes. 4ºC. Mmmmm....

Extraordinary: provided the temp is below freezing does that sphere or shape remain?

Hmmmm. Interesting thought. I suppose, in theory, it should.

I suppose that, as the thickness of the bubble is just a single molecule, the stress set up as the soap mixture freezes is not sufficient to overcome the surface tension of the liquid. Also, as it is just one molecule thick, the crystals would form in just two dimensions.

I wonder whether or not a soapy water mixture would expand below 4 degrees in the same way as pure water.

Fascinating piece of video whatever the explanations.
