Re: The Traditional HTCIP Christmas Party
Just a quick reminder to anyone else who would like to come along to let me know. And also to anyone who would like the Christmas menu to let me have their choices asap as the restaurant needs to know by Friday.

If you prefer not to partake of the Christmas menu then there will still be the a la carte if you prefer. I know that at least a couple of us will be choosing that.

ttfn,
Gordon

Re: The Traditional HTCIP Christmas Party
Hi everybody,

Just to let you all know that your menu requests have been sent to the Archduke. If you have not requested the Christmas Menu then you are down for the a la carte.

At the moment there will be nine of us there but if anyone else would like to join us do feel free to drop me a line. You could even turn up unannounced and take us all by surprise.

I shall be there from around 6.00pm and the table is booked for 7.15pm. See you there!

Gordon

p.s. for those of you who didn't come last year (and for those of us with poor memories!!) it can get a little crowded and noisy in the bar area.

here's a wee challenge for Friday - how are we going to skype if the place has no wifi? is anyone bringing a laptop or has anyone got an ipad with internet key?

Hi Eva,

Hopefully we have that in hand just so long as we have 3g coverage ...... but I'll be bringing a couple of carrier pigeons with me just in case!

Shared a few more suggestions with Gordon for how might connect. I think have some provenance in that area so hope we can use, but difficult to settup in short time.

I'll have my iPhone, which we can use to Skype if there's 3G coverage. My iPad, sadly, is not of a generation that has a camera.

I would love to come, but the exigencies of my current life do not permit it; moreover, it would involve a five hour trip (not to mention getting across London, and the cost of it all!). I hope the meeting/dinner goes well.

Michael,
Thank you for your message and I'm sorry that it's too far away for you. We shall, I'm sure, raise a glass or three (or four!) to all the absent forum members.
We'll look forward, instead, to seeing your next Photoshop creation
Gordon

Re: The Traditional HTCIP Christmas Party
Thanks to everyone for a splendid evening. We had a great meal, and even managed to get to Skype with Tooquilos in Australia and Vibeke in New Zealand on my iPhone - which, frankly, I still find astonishing.

So glad to see so many of you there last night. Here's a composite of three shots I did on my phone, hastily cobbled together; no doubt those of you with proper cameras got better results. I know Jota120 persuaded someone from the next table to take a shot of all of us, but I've yet to see the results.

From left to right: James, Gordon (GKB), Vernon (BigVern), Trevor (Jota120), Deborah Morley, Eva Roth, Sophie, Ted (Eggbox) and Nick Curtain.

Cheers!

Re: The Traditional HTCIP Christmas Party
An excellent evening. It was great to see everyone there. Such a shame that we couldn't take over the entire restaurant with all the forum members present - now that might be an idea for next year? Start saving your air fares and time away from work guys and gals.

Anna & Vibeke - it was great to see you even if we could hardly hear you above the hubbub. Like Steve, I use Skype a lot when I'm abroad but I still find it amazing that we can actually make that kind of call to somewhere half a world away.

Excellent photoSteve - despite my thoughts on lens nodal points! I think it was the wine!

Happy Christmas to absent friends.

Gordon

Thank you all for a lovely time.

Nice stitching Steve, you really should think about using Photoshop more ... I think you would go far!

The food was delicious and the friends around the table delightful. Anna and Vibeke, so very nice to see you joining in the evening.

Thanks again Gordon for arranging it.

Merry Christmas to those who were there and those who were not.

Vern

p.s. Steve, I note the photo is almost banner shaped!

Thank you to all who organised and arranged the link up!! It was a real thrill being able to see everyone, even though hearing was another story. But nevertheless I think I got the message across, particularly to Ted haha.

Re: The Traditional HTCIP Christmas Party
Well, finally got home after the HotChips party!
A very good evening and so nice to see everyone, and to meet James. Here's to more of them, but in a quieter location: unless everyone would like to club in and buy me a digital hearing aid!
