Summer forum meet in London
We've been thinking about having a summer meet of the forum for some time, rather than just waiting until Christmas every year.

Vibeke has just told me she'll be visiting the UK for a few days during June, so it makes sense to hold the meet during her time in London - after all, she is one of the longest-standing members, and it's an awfully long way from New Zealand.

I'm proposing lunchtime on either Friday 14th June or Monday 17th, at the George Inn in Borough. Does anyone have a preference for either day? Vibeke, you get first shot at this...

Sounds wonderful, I have no plans at present and a weekday lunch will be great. either day is fine for me. So looking forward to it.

Good. Both days good for me apart from I need to go to Scotland in June, but hopefully can slice together.

Re: Summer forum meet in London
Well, since no-one has much of a preference, and I know Gordon was planning on going flying on Friday, let's settle on Monday 17th June. Hurrah!

The venue will be the George Inn, same as at Christmas. Those of you who were there will agree that it does a damn fine lunch at a reasonable price in entertaining surroundings - and we could even get to sit outside this time.

The George Inn is on Borough High Street, about fifty yards from London Bridge station (both overground and tube). It's through an arch on the left side of the street as you head south from London Bridge, and you can find a map of how to get there here.

For those of you from outside the UK - you will be missed! And for those in the UK, try to get down there. It would be great to see you all.

Wonderful, and just before I read this post I thought, Monday might be better, give me a chance to recover fro the flight.
I'm so looking forward to meeting some of you.
Now lets hope you can turn on weather as good as we have here, 22degrees today, no clouds or wind.
See you soon.
Vibeke

Looks good. Monday probably better for me too. My Scotland schedule slipping out so should not be a conflict now. It will be great to meet all that can make it.

The George Inn has very a long history. (No history lesson from here at present). I've been there with my sister and friends a few times and of course HTCIPS colleagues/friends. If we can sit outside that will be great!

Guess I couldn't convince you-all to gather here in my little old home town.......in the US. Vibeke, you would love the weather (extended spring/early summer 75ish degrees)!

Oh well........I predict a good time will be had by all!

Thanks, I'm afraid I'm not coming that way, but if I ever do, I will be sure to look you up, and if you or any other member ever come downunder, come and see me.

I'll try to come, but this, I'm afraid this will be the first and last time on account that I have no income, and money is...

Re: Summer forum meet in London
I know what you mean Michael, but no problem, I can pay my share+. I'd drive down near you but I can't pay parking and my friend is away. I'll get train there and back.

The Mega Bus gives good rates. I'll be on the train, not good rates.

Don't worry about "a round", and meal I can slip it through , no problem. Hope that is not disingenuous, just as a friend.

Come on join us! We need to meet!

See you later Michael

Trevor, That's extremely kind of you I have dietary considerations, so I can only drink premium Champagne and also can only eat freshly caught and cooked Lobster, otherwise I come out in a rash

On a reciprocating note, I can offer to participating members (lottery perhaps) Martin Evening's MASSIVE book on CS6 as I have finished with it now, and will take it with me to London.

Update: I've booked leave for the Monday so will be there.

What time will you all be arriving at t'pub?

Michael, I'm intrigued ... have you read and memorised Martin Evening's massive book? Shall we test you on the day?

Re: Summer forum meet in London
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. I suggest meeting at the George at around noon; I'll be there a little earlier to secure a table.

(Is it my imagination, or have a couple of posts gone missing from this thread? I'm fairly sure I've already said this.)
