Re: Wacom tablet
I'm not familiar with that tablet, but thanks for sharing your experience with it. It does seem like a good alternative.

And welcome to the forum!

Re: Wacom tablet
I been using the Wacom Bamboo with Photoshop for a few years now and honestly don't know how I would do without it. The fine control and pressure sensitivity feature makes the experience of using PS with a mouse like trying to butter toast while wearing boxing gloves.

I have been promising myself that I will upgrade to the Intuous 5 tablet as it has even finer control and a few more options and I am sure I will one day.

Re: Wacom tablet
Thank you for the welcome Steve, I have followed yourself & the books you write of which the first was; How to Cheat in Photoshop: the Art of Creating Photorealistic Montages
followed 2 years later with its 2nd revised edition.
And more recently with the afore mentioned title but the 2012 CS6 edition.

Anyhooo, what's with the wink Steve

If I had the spare extra £223 I would've gone for the Wacom Pro which is the replacement Intuos V5.
The extra £109 for the Wacom Intuos V5 demo non touch was a very close call I must say, but I needed to save money as my Fiancée keeps reminding me.

All in all I'm very pleased with the Aiptek.
One cool feature is the switch programmes which acts like the preview mode in 'mini bridge' with a carousel of the programmes open, just scroll the wheel & round & round they go, stop at your choice & it becomes the front window/programme.

Well I'm off to see if there is any work for me out there & will be back soon, cheers RetroSi....

Re: Wacom tablet
I was wondering if anybody has had a chance to try out the new Wacom Cintiq Companion? http://cintiqcompanion.wacom.com/CintiqCompanion/en/

Basically high end graphics tablet, with a average spec Windows 8 PC built in.

It's a bit pricey but sounds very interesting..

Re: Wacom tablet
at $2499 or £1525 it is out of my budget, maybe Steve can try one out I'm sure one of his contacts has a contact at Wacom whom would lend one out...
While your at it see about the 24HD Touch at $2999

I can see one of these would be worth the money if your job was full time as a graphics artist or similar.
I'd like one even if I wasn't.

I like the fact that this is a 'drawing tablet with PC built in' rather than being a touch screen laptop that can be used to draw on.

If the PC specs were a bit more powerful/ upgradeable then this could be the perfect device.

Another thing is that Photoshop doesn't appear to support 'Pinch Zoom' at the moment.

It's probably best to wait for a 2nd Generation Wacom Companion, which may well be a bit more perfect..

Re: Wacom tablet
I have reviewed the Wacom Cintiq Companion, and it's excellent. Apart from the fact that it's Windows, it's a superb piece of kit.

The review was published in MacUser magazine, and for various reasons has not yet made it online. I'll see if I can get permission to post it here.

Re: Wacom tablet
I have been hanging my nose over buying a graphic tablet for some time but thought the price of the Wacon’s a bit steep. Following RetroSi’s glowing report on the Aiptek and my pending Birthday, I found a very reasonably priced eBay Aiptek 14000U and made the plunge. It arrived this week and this week’s Friday Challenge was created solely via my new Aiptek. I am very pleased with my new buy the build quality is excellent however I found the pressure sensitivity doesn’t work in Photoshop CC (on Windows 7) but does work in its own software. Any ideas anyone? e.g. any new drivers available anywhere etc.? Thanks

Re: Wacom tablet
Ant Snell, have you looked on the Aiptek International website?
I'm sure you will have , however, if not here it is.
http://www.aiptek.eu/index.php/en/products/archive/archive-graphic-tablets/mediatablet-14000u
The drivers for this are under the driver software tab near the bottom vers 5.03 plus spme other stuff.
The only other thing I could suggest is you email them,
Support@aiptek.eu
or if you require anything else such as more tips which they sent me 3 off for free,
sales@aiptek.eu
I wonder if because the 1400 is an older style tablet it does not work with PS CC as it shows it supports Win 7!
Good luck & let us know.
