It depends. They are primarily concerned with getting photographers' images through, so depending how many are in the queue, it could take a while - check the front page for the number of days the oldest file has been waiting.

Hey, great info David. I wondered how iStock got so many photos, but I never investigated the site. Thanks.

I see that it says how many photos waiting approval but not for how long they have been

Re: commision job without pressure
I have a small tip I made up about how to fix the noise level.

1. Blow the image up to the size you need.
2. Duplicate the image
3. Adjust the contrast on the copy until everthing looks really defined (It should look like it has too much contrast, but it should still be distguishable, without too much detail loss.
4. Guassian blur it exactly enough to get rid of all of the noise.
5. Now adjust the opacity until you find a perfect blend between the two.

When it is finished you should have a picture with no noise, and it shouldn't be blurry as long as there wasn't noise in the amounts amounts that bad security cameras have.

The reason (I believe) that this works so well (my opinion) is that it allows you to blur in very small increment, accentuate the lines in the picture, and it raises the contrast in small increments too.

Ive finally been accepted
I have found the reduce noise filter very very usefull for fixing up photos. Another method I am trying is to extend the background (to make the image size bigger)

Congratulations! You don't have to have a professional kit to make it in photography (admittedly, it does help though).
