For people with way too much time...
Some simply stunning Illustrator work. The page takes it's merry time to complete (the duality of the subject) but it's well worth the wait!

Crikeys that does takes an age to load but they are all very stunning. I've just bought an Illustrator book to help me through the very complex toolbox and it will take quite sometime before I'm doing complicated meshes likes those.

Absolutely astounding. But are the people with too much time those of us who wait for the page to load, or the poor saps who spend their lives creating these things in Illustrator in the first place? I don't know what the Japanese for "get a life" is, but honestly, the effort involved in creating these illustrations is ridiculous.

I have to agree with you there, Steve. I hate to think what their bandwidth usage for their website would be - that's if anybody can even be bothered to load the full site, perhaps they need a lesson is optimisation or at least linking to the files especially when they feel that they have to include the mesh outline too.

As far as Illustrator for the busy Photomontager is concerned - how does one quicken up a very labour intensive process of drawing hundreds or thousands of shapes just to make a simple image? And is it worth it when Photoshop is so multi-purpose thesedays?

Here's an Illustrator pic I made earlier and even this was a little labour-intensive for my liking.

It is basically, "look what we can do!!", it has no commercial merit as it takes too long. Surely 3D apps would be easier - Why use a handsaw, when a chainsaw will do?

Absolutely, meeting deadlines is more important to advertisers, newspapers etc. than image perfection. I suppose that's why How to Cheat in Photoshop is such a good book as you can output high standard images more efficiently in a shorter time. If Steve does get around to it I will be greatly interested in How to Cheat in Illustrator.
