Am I right in that many of the Php forums "in a box" have numerous loopholes for hackers? I know a popular football forum I visit that was downed for several days. Well, you know, I know some of you have been asking for a different format, but I'm pretty happy with this. It does the job, it only goes wrong when I screw it up myself, and as far as I can see it has all the features it needs. What other features are you thinking of, eaglepi? What would you really like that isn't here already? The other considerations are firstly, I wouldn't want to lose all the history that would go if I moved on to different software; and secondly, that I'm primarily a Photoshop artists who does some writing on the side. And some woodworking in my spare time, on the other side. Which doesn't really leave that much of a third side left over for tinkering with php, mySQL and all those other web dingdongs I've vaguely heard mentioned but have never attempted to understand. That said, I'm vaguely open to suggestions, particularly if they involve persuading David to do the changeover for me... |

I'll gladly help out should the need arise. The transfer would be the trickiest part as it would involve manipulating the database directly. The best way to do this would probably be for me to set it up as a mirror on my system, get a copy of the current data and transfer it to you, once it's been done. As you say, it works as it is but as numbers (hopefully) grow, it might be time to reconsider then. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

I agree, if it isn't broke why fix it? the forum works fine and I understand why you would rather keep things as they are. I was just asking, don't mind me as a former private investigator I ask a lot of questions........lol sometimes just to ask them. The features in this forum are fine but to be totally honest Steve they are hard to find because the blue text on blue background is very hard "for me" to read But as you can see I get by so don't worry on my account I love this forum and will do what I have to to get around. |

As an ex-pat living in Canada, it takes a great deal of energy to keep the North American colonials up to scratch on thier 'English' and a lot of reminders about "whose language is it anyway?" etc etc. and yes, I do get beaten up periodically and ocasionally thown into Boston Harbour .... |
