Hi Steve and all photoshop drivers.

Well happy new year to everyone and thanks for all your advice and help. Now here's my little bit of input.

I've been a bit of a Dali fan for ages and I remember the pickie above ' Still Life - Very Fast '. I thought it might be a laugh and a good creative excercise to have a bash at the same thing with Photoshop. I've got ideas but as yet not much in the way of skill to make a good go of it. What do you think ? Shall we have a bash ? Might make a friday challenge if you're Ok with it Steve. I've got a rocket propelled pencil ready for take off but that's about all.

BJ

Interesting idea. I've always found Dali a little too flashy for his own good, but that's not a discussion to go into here. But a still life as a challenge could be fun, especially if the elements are drawn from, say, the Photo-Objects sampler that came with the book. Hmm. I'll give it some thought!

Hey dont forget the wrapping up and maybe a few snowflakes in there for effect??....

... H*ll no, lets just blow it up!!

Interesting idea though, maybe a little twist on it could be choosing objects/subjects and leaving the artistic style up to the "artiste".... maybe Monet-esque or Picasso-esque(???), or even good old Pre-Raphelite?? Just an idea and would add maybe a different swing on a Friday Challenge for us Art History freaks??

Along similar lines, this was something I did a while back. It's a reproduction of Magritte's Le fils de l'homme. Most of it is from a Hemera image collection. The idea was to create a 'photograph' of the scene that the artist was painting but with all the work I did on it, it ended up looking like a painting itself!

Wow David that must have taken some work, have to admit that when I first saw your image I thought it was THE painting Then I noticed the sea and the not so stormy clouds and realised my mistake!
I did wonder whether the "man" was in-fact you, taking Magritte's self-portrait literally?

No, it's not me

I did have other ideas to throw around with this, I was going to change the angle so it was viewed from the side to reveal the peg holding the apple in front of his face

Fantastic work, David! I've been a Magritte fan for as long as I can remember, and this is a stunning interpretation of his paintings. Your idea of spinning it round so it can be viewed from the side is a great one, too!

Whilst we're on the subject of Dali here's one I painted a few years ago - (ok I know it's not PS, sometimes its nice just to leave the mouse and tablet behind and paint again.) Nice Magritte by the way David

Glen - You make me as green as your AV!

I have always wanted to be able to put pen (or paint) to paper and create a masterpiece, I have never succeeded though, which is why I put all my faith into my Fuji S602 and PS, in the vain attempt to impersonate some of my artistic heros.

I am just going to go into the corner and sob now!!

Steve, I noticed you do some woodworking. I do some work in that area but on a small scale. Here is a music box I made for a Christmas gift.

On my pitiful web site I have some of the other items I made.

Hope you enjoy.

Thanks Maiden. The time factor is exactly why I do not sell the items I make. (unless they have lots of money ) The vehicles at the web site take 7 to 24 days of labor. (since I am retired my days are short 4 to 5 hrs. If I don't get frustrated).
Thanks again.
