commision job without pressure
Are there any jobs that I could get on a Per-piece-of-work basis. As opposed to having deadllines and pressure like i'm sure most of yall have. I do stuff for my father but it is all the same kinds of stuff. cutting a manikin out of the background and replacing the background with somthing that looks nicer; somtimes healing around the folds of whatever the manikin is wearing is basically all i do. I would really like somthing that I can be creative and make somthing realy good, but still get paid.I have no idea if such a thing exists, but just in case it does... _________________ Don't judge a man till youve walked a mile in his shoes, (that way, when you judge him, he'll be a mile away, and barefoot) |

Re: commision job without pressure
There really aren't any jobs quite like that: all commissioned images are for publications, even if they're websites, which have deadlines. But if you have a digital camera and can take your own pictures (rather than using someone else's as a starting point) then why don't you do some montages for iStockphoto.com and if they're any good, they'll sell. You won't make a huge amount from it, but it can be satisfying just to have someone pay a couple of dollars for your image! And if enough people buy it, that will make it work the trouble. The manikin thing sounds very interesting. Stick them against urban backgrounds and you could well have saleable images. |

As an endorsment to this, my currently highest selling image is a montage. http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup.php?id=442760 In response to your last question, EDK; all sorts of people buy from iStock, mainly traditional designers and web designers but as long as you're not going to use the photos to resell as your own, they can be used by anyone for pretty much anything. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Primarily, iStock is for photographs but they do accept illustrations and montages too. To become a contributer, you have to submit 3 images and run through the training questions. Be warned, they are incredibly strict on what they will and won't accept. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

No, they are for evaluation only. You can of course resubmit them if you are accepted into the collective. I actually had two of mine rejected the second time round ![]() You must also realise, as Steve has said, that the material must be yours, ie. photos that you have taken, even montages. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

There are a lot of factors in the inspection process, the main ones being: Size of image: they must be at least 1920000 pixels in area (1600x1200) Quality is paramount as they will most likely be destined for commercial print. Which means clean, noise free images. Demand: They have an extensive list of images they don't need (as well as ones they do). _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Re: commision job without pressure
size and demand are (relatively) no problem problem is quality many of my pictures are above what the noise level should be not to an extreme, but you can still see some _________________ - There are 2 secrets in business, 1) dont reveal all your secrets..... |

Sounds like your ISO value is too high - what camera are you using? _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Ah, that's similar in spec to my Nikon 3100. Probably the best you would get would be medium sized images on iStock. Of course, if you use it for montages, they could end up considerably larger. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

You could try NeatImage, that's pretty good. Are you talking about real noise or compression artifacts? _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: commision job without pressure
well looking at the pictures now I dont really see much of it. I think it's real noise, but it only happens noticably indoors, probably because it strains to get\make-light. I think I will just submit the pictures, and if they don't like them then I will fix them. Theres one picture (that I took) that I found on our family computer's hard drive that i think could win a photo contest, not sure if usefull to photoshoppers though ![]() _________________ Don't judge a man till youve walked a mile in his shoes, (that way, when you judge him, he'll be a mile away, and barefoot) |
