To my British friends
I have been watching the terrible news reports about the bombing in London and I want to convey my regret that this has happened in your country. My deepest sympathy to those who have been killed or injured. I am praying that Maiden was not driving a bus at the time. I do not like to make political or religious statements in these forums, but if the decient peoples of this world do not unite to eradicate these vermin no one will be able to leave their homes. Together we stand Divided we fall. _________________ -Never met a PS'er I didn't like- Will Rogers |

Ditto that. I hope Steve wasn't in the city today. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Don't worry MJ I drive a bus in Sheffield (Nothern England) although Sheffield did have a bomb scare at the Home Office building just 2 days ago, with a coded message sent to the Police and I think that's too much of a coincident. I'm at work later today and have already heard that we are on alert for suspect devices. I expect we are going to have alsort of comedians today trying to scare the driver. Thanks for your sentiments I'm sure all the members of Steve's site echo them. Becky _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Re: To my British friends
Thanks for your comments, MJ. Yes, it's been a terrible day, and I don't think we've heard the worst of the casualties yet. Everyone I know is safe - had some trouble tracking down my brother, who left his mobile (cell) phone in a taxi on Monday. You don't realise how much you rely on this technology in emergencies, until it suddenly isn't there. 'Eradicating these vermin' is one solution, of course. But perhaps we should address the question of what we've done to make these people hate us so much? I know we're not dealing with rational organisations here - no-one who sets out to kill innocent civilians could be deemed rational - but there are, inevitably, wider issues. I'm not trying to excuse the atrocities, merely to point out that they must have some basis in our own deeds and global approach. Sorry, I didn't mean to drag politics in here! But I'm not sure any government is entirely blameless. |

Re: To my British friends
Just learned of these terrible events and wanted to add my sympathies. My first thoughts went to the members of this forum, my first prayers were for your, and your loved ones safety. I truly hope this will be the end of these activities for you. God bless the families of the dead and injured. I'm sure everyone will be on edge for some time. Relieved to know you and yours are safe, must have been quite a nervous time waiting to hear from your brother, Steve. And, Maiden, there always seem to be those who think their comments are so funny. We went through that when there were so many plane hijackings here. Their humor got stiffled pretty quickly when the sky marshalls started hauling them off the planes and into jail cells. Hopefully your passengers will have better sense. Take care all, you are in our thoughts! |

Re: To my British friends
I'd like to add my best wishes to the list. It's a very scary thing to turn on the telly and find out that your country is under attack, and I don't wish it upon anyone. I would guess that you lot are slightly better equipped to deal with this sort of thing due to the IRA bombings you've had to endure, but it doesn't diminish the gravity of the situation. Steve, I have to agree that we're responsible, to some degree, for the circumstances that we now find ourselves in. At the risk of sounding unpatriotic (which I am not!), I can't help but feel that the U.S. is dragging all of our allies down a path that we may regret traveling. I won't pretend to know the answers to issues of foreign policy, but I don't see any indication that the "powers that be" have a clue either. Anyway, I'm elated to hear that all of our forum members are safe and sound! Be safe! |
