Need an EXPERT'S opinion
(hint hint...Steve)

I'm a member of a car forum where this picture was posted. MANY people think it's a photoshop job, as they just can't believe a car could go over a curb like that without some major help. A few people think it's a prank, with the front wheels being removed and then towed over. Others just can't believe that if someone got in their car and put it in drive that enough motion would be obtained to make the car hop over the sharp curb. I think it's real based on the reflections on the car, and I have my opinion on how it got into that position.

If it IS a photoshop job, that's one talented person who made it.

Steve, could you pull of something like this?

Thanks for looking (and commenting).

Re: Need an EXPERT'S opinion
Not sure im classed as EXPERT but what the heck.....

There is NO WAY that its a fake, if so we need that guy who made it to make tut's lol.
I think your theory is right, but i'd have thought if you try and get onto the kurb at an angle and give it high revs when near i'd of thought its possible, minds you thats too straight, this seems like an unexplainable picture unless they DID take the wheels off, but I wouldn't waste the time, i'd be out street racing in it!

Re: Need an EXPERT'S opinion
im no ps expert but spent 25 years in the motor trade so heres my opinion she has tried to drive over the kerb but the ground on the far side is lower ,notice how the front suspension is extended and the car is resting on the far kerb and not much weight on the back wheelsjust how a car would balance in that situation.so if it is photoshoped i take my hat of to the artist. who said women cant reveres and i cant spell.

I knew that one would come up!

Anyway to me it's not a fake but the car has been helped over the kerb probably by placing ramps at both sides and then removing them once it was half way over then reversing up so the front wheels meet the the far kerb, it would have had to have been planned to ensure there was enough clearance to do this.

But the evidence of the car mounting the kerb is not present such as damage to the kerb and to the front and side panels which almost always happens especially as it's such a steep angle for the mounting and the inevitable fall at the far kerb.

So in my opinion (and I've seen lots of kerb mountings) it's a true photograph of a fake scene, the girl has obviously been placed there because it's always assumed that such poor driving skills are always attributed to a woman, in my experience it's always the male drivers that come up with some of the real comedic accidents, however if there was a female driver within a 30 mile zone of the accident the female is always blamed "I was distracted by that stupid bint in the next county who didn't indicate as she pulled out!" said to man wrapped around the tree.

Re: just for laffs!
I reckon the car WAS driven over the kerb and the reason for there being no sill damage is that the sill is, perhaps, NOT the lowest part of the car?

Even if the sill isn't the lowest part' which is obviously true, to mount that kerb would take some force causing damage to the kerb or at least some tyre mark, also as the car dropped at the furthert kerb the suspension would have forced the sills to impact with the kerb not to mention the sump and exhaust - which only leaves us with 2 options: 1. The photo is a fake (a very good fake) 2: The car was assisted into place (probably by the placement of ramps later removed) to stage the accident.

I suspect the latter as there is no way that car would have been able to mount that high a kerb without substantial damage and I reiterate I've seen what damage a low-speed impact on much smaller kerbs can do to a bus which has far more ground clearance than your average car especially a Toyota saloon car such as this.

I think the fact people (usually men) are so ready to believe that this is not only a real photo but the accident isn't staged really demonstrates the poor view men have towards most women drivers. I know there's a possibility of it being a real accident, and that sometimes fact is stranger than fiction, but it's just all too convenient to be convincing especially as it has to be a woman driver.

Re: Need an EXPERT'S opinion
LOL .... thing is Maiden that even you seem to have fallen into the trap of believing that the woman was the driver of the car. In my scenario I reckon it was hubby who cocked up the parking, he's now run off all embarrassed to phone a mate to get him out of his pickle and left his poor wife to guard the car and take all the flack. Men huh?

I understand that you're joking but just to clarify Diamond Insurance and Shelia's Wheels are car insurers for women only and they offer substantially lower quotes than normal car insurers you do the maths - women must be better drivers otherwise such companies would have gone broke a long time ago.

That's shocking really when you think how much advertising they do on the basis of cheaper car insurance. Oh well, at least it states

"The car insurance industry universally acknowledges that women are safer drivers and most companies price accordingly. Our research dispels the myth that the self-styled specialists offer the best deals to women motorists," said Allan Burns head of Tesco Car Insurance.

Re: Need an EXPERT'S opinion
Okay Dalton

I'm not going to get drawn on this because it's a circular argument. You've had a prang with a female driver and therefore you feel superior and generalise about all women as drivers, I've had near misses with female drivers and a lot more near misses with male drivers - prehaps this is because more men drive than women but I'm not going to generalise about male drivers as a whole because there are some exceptional drivers and there are some braindead macho idiots. Females don't have the monopoly on stupid driving.

Re: Need an EXPERT'S opinion
I know what you mean, some female drivers infuriate me too. And it's difficult not to generalise at times, but I don't generalise about gender I generalise about the type of car they own. Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Peugots and 4x4s seem to be my main bugbear. That's not to mention white van drivers and taxis haha
