Gradient Tool
Hi,

I have a question about making a gradient. I once learned about a way to make gradients so that each time you apply a gradient (like in a mask) to a picture it adds to the previous gradient you made. As it stands now, every time I click on the gradient it erases the last attempt I made and re-does the whole gradient. I recall having to press a key or keys to change the way it's done. Does anyone know what I mean and how to toggle between the two options? It's very frustrating not remembering how to do it. Maybe I dreamed it?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Re: Gradient Tool
Hi Photoshoppie,

Switch the Gradient's mode (not the Layer blend mode) to Difference or Exclusion. That should do the trick.

David,

Don't know if you will read this, but thanks. So it wasn't a dream!

Re: Gradient Tool
Actually, I think the problem is you have the gradient tool set to Foreground to Background - so you'll get a smooth transition from black to white, in the mask. Change its mode to Foreground to Transparent and you'll be able to see through it.
