What Kit?
I have just got hold of a Trust A6 size tablet and pen and although I am making a shaky start with it  I can already see that it can really help me with accurate drawing and shading in PS. The pen pressure affecting different brush engine attributes is also great but produces weird unexpected results sometime. I need to keep reminding myself what settings I have created. Before I got the tablet I thought that A6 size would be too small and that I would need to get say A4 size to be able to work, but it has surprised me how much movement of the hand you do with even a small tablet compared to mouse movements which are scaled up to the screen, so for now I am happy with my A6.
It has got me to wondering what kit other forum members use to 'talk' to PS and how they manage with those devices? |

I use a mixture of mouse, keyboard and a Wacom Graphire 2 (although I have been eyeing up the Intuous range). _________________ Leap and the net will appear |

I have a 4X6 Graphire ! (6 years old) with mouse and keyboard at home. And lucky to have a Cintiq 21 inch at work. These are freakin' expensive, but boy are they great! I would say they apply more to people that actually create from scratch (like my styling co-workers that paint vehicles directly); for photo-montage it is a bit an overkill, but don't tell my boss.

I was bought a Medion A4 graphics tablet a couple of Christmas's ago. It's much better than a mouse for applying curved brush strokes. I'm sure there are better tablets out there, but for now this'll do me! I do find, though, that once I've got the tablet out, I tend to use the stylus rather than the mouse for most things in PS. |

My Graphics Tablet is woefully under used and covered in dust (shame on me) it's a Wacom Volito which is a budget Graphics Tablet and although is pressure sensitive doesn't feature Pen Tilt which would have been better. I might save some money and buy a better one but my poor husband is bewildered as to why I'd need a better one when there is a perfectly good one gathering dust in the back bedroom - I have little argument other than to say "But it's bettttteeerrrr!" making me sound more like a spolit brat than a reasoned adult lol
Don't get me wrong we are both breadwinners in this house so it isn't like I need to ask permission, but the fact is that a nice fancy all-singing-and-dancing Graphic Tablet would be hard to justify being as there is a list of far more important bills to be paid. So it's out with the duster and clean up that Volito and get practicing my pen skills until I can truly say "I definitely need a better GT now, darling!" and hope that he doesn't return with a Gin&Tonic with an umbrella in it

Hmmm, i've just got a little Dell dual core laptop with Windows Vista. I don't have a graphics tablet because it would be as big as my laptop if i did. 
PS CS3 has crashed once so far for me under Vista. |

For me it's mouse, keyboard and an A5 size Intuos 3. I once had an A4 tablet but found that it was too large with my hand waving all over the place. I felt like a demented fly-swatter at the end of a day's photoshopping!! I do find that the mouse is better for some things with the pen for other occasions. |

I decided to treat myself to a Wacom Intuos A4 model and I love it. It has customisable buttons at the side so you can change brush size, zoom in/out, undo etc without having to go back to the keyboard. I upgraded from an old A6 Wacom tablet which is now gathering dust... is anyone interested in taking it off my hands? |

I don't use a mouse at all. I use a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet, which has programmable buttons on the pen and a scroll wheel and programmable buttons on the tablet. I've also got a trackball, but I usually use the tablet for mouse-type jobs as well as photoshopping. _________________ Wrinkled was not one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up ... |

I got a Intuos3 (4x6) in December, it took me some time to get used to it. I was pretty fast and accurate with my trackball mouse. I now love it and find it much better than the mouse for Photoshop. Still use the mouse for other work. I was worried that the 4x6 would be too small, but it was a question of cost. I have not found any problems with the size. I have covered the surface with a bit of clear laminate, as I was worried about damaging the surface with over use. |
