What's (appears to be) better than Poser and is free: DAZ studio1.7
You have to register and then create an account with the email code, and then open your account to obtain the Registration Number, and lastly you have to download a "Contents" installer which includes one woman, her hair, her clothes and her poses.

The resolution appears to be limitless here at 8000 x 4000 pixels but reduced in size in photoshop to accommodate upload time.

Here is Victoria in her base pose:

Oh yeah Victoria comes free but you have to pay for a fella, but he's cheap!

Click on Victoria for more detail.

The second pic (a man) come from the Poser demo, and has virtually all its facilties disabled; moreover you can only view in a low resolution.

If anyone knows why you should spend £139 on Poser (which won't let you know what it has under the bonnet) then please let me know.

Poser offers very much more control over positioning the figures!

1. Poser comes with a heck of a lot more content than just one character.
2. A lot of content from Renderosity and Runtime DNA , for example, can only be used in Poser. Some of the add-ons are not tested in or can not be used in DAZ.
3. When you buy poser, you get a free 6 month discount membership for their affiliated website Content Paradise which has tons of free stuff for members.

Hope this helps. There is more but, you get the idea. Don't get me wrong, I have DAZ too, I just prefer using Poser.
