WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only)
As you may have read in my earlier post, I am offering the following second-hand graphics tablet FREE (excepting cost of postage) to a United Kingdom resident. It is in excellent condition. Tablet: Wacom Intuos A4 9x12" USB (model GD-0912-U) Accessories: Intuos Pen and stand Intuos 4D Mouse If you want to know the technical specs of this product or obtain the latest drivers, visit the site below: Wacom UK homepage : http://www.wacom-europe.com/uk/index.asp Manuals for Mac and PC can be found at: Wacom Legacy Product manual : http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/manuals.cfm Please note this tablet is a big beastie! Even though the active area is A4 landscape, the overall size of the tablet is much larger at 46cm wide by 36cm deep. Be aware that the pens are now officially out of stock at Wacom and CANNOT be replaced if lost. You would have to trawl eBay if you broke or lost the pen. The pen comes with a single hard nib but the good news is that they are exchangeable with the nibs used in the Intuos3 pens according to the Wacom forums. THE GIVEAWAY RULES : I have ONE of the above SECOND-HAND tablets to give FREE to a UK resident who is a member of this forum on or before 5th January 2008 (to prevent someone creating a squillion accounts to enter this draw). I don't mind if you don't have a tablet yet or already have a smaller tablet and just want a larger one. Please reply to this post by the close of Saturday 12th January stating that a) you want to enter the draw, and b) you are a UK resident. Please only post once to enter. Do NOT list your address - we will sort that out later. POSTAGE COST : I am asking the new owner to pay the cost of postage for this tablet. According to my home kitchen scales, it weighs just under 2.8Kg which should cost around the following... Recorded (Signed For) First Class - £10.20 no tracking, no compensation Special Delivery Next Day - £19.45 tracked, compensation against loss/damage I really hope one of you can give this tablet a good home - thank you Steve for allowing me to offer it here. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have about it. Good luck. ![]() |

WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only) RESULTS
Well it is time to announce the new owner of my tablet. Thank you for being patient and waiting the week to see who would give it a new home. In a very low-tech draw, I wrote your three names on identical pieces of paper, shuffled them, placed them face down on the floor behind my wife, shuffled them again and asked her to call out top, middle or lower. This highly un-scientific method resulted in the lower paper being selected and the winner was... ... OCKER - congratulations! Apologies to Ted and Kevin, but thank you agian for showing an interest. Now, Ocker, please could you email me at coffey at blueyonder dot co dot uk letting me know your name, postal address and which method of postage you want me to use when I send it out to you. I'll let you know how to send the postage cost to me when I tell you it is dispatched and I have the exact cost. Well done and thanks for helping me recycle the tablet. Daniel |

Re: WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only)
It's really nice of you, Daniel to make your table available to a user in need of one. For those that didn't win the tablet though, you can still find one at a good price. I bought two used tablets form my use off ebay. I then found that you can also get refurbished tablets from Wacom. All you have to do is check out Wacom's web site. Either way, there are tablets available for much less than a new one. |

Re: WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only)
Ocker - please can you give me your contact details for posting on this tablet. If you have changed your mind about it, just say so and I will let one of the others know. I would like to hear from you by the end of Thursday. If I don't hear from you by then, I will make arrangements to contact one of the other interested folks. |

Re: WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only)
Eggbox (Ted) and Carpetzombie (Kevin) - can I ask a favour... On the offchance that Ocker does not have an opportunity to read this thread before the end of Thursday, would you both mind emailing me your contact details and postage preference in advance so that if necessary I can choose an alternative winner and get this tablet out of the house at a time convenient to me. I will, of course, delete your details once I have dispatched the tablet to the eventual owner. Thanks, Daniel (coffey at blueyonder dot co dot uk) |

Re: WACOM Tablet GIVEAWAY (UK only)
OK, folks - Ocker has got his postal details to me - I am very grateful for the interest and I hope you are happy with the tablet, Ocker. I recommend the version 4.93-3 drivers even though they are older. They are much more stable and support everything except dual-monitors (I think). Oh, and if you possibly can, put your mouse away for at least a week. Resist all temptations to use the mouse. Use the pen for everything, and I mean everything! The only thing I ever have trouble with is PC games that have a MouseLook option to control camera movements. If you find you need to access right-click more often than is comfortable on the pen, see if you can find a keyboard with a touchpad and pair of mousebuttons - it may help (I use a cordless Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard). Happy drawing! |
