Apple Store - Misleading on Macbook Pro (Refurb)
In the Apple Refurbished store, there are 2 identical machines for the MBP 15.4" 2.5ghz 512mb Ram. The only difference between the two machines is that one says "glossy" in the description and the other does not. Both are priced at $1,499.

I purchased the one that does not have "glossy" in the description with the assumption it would have a matte display. I couldn't be more wrong and I wanted to make others aware of this discrepancy before they make the same mistake.

I entered into a chat with one of the apple representatives after placing my order and she said they do not have matte available, so I'm getting a glossy display.

Regardless of these two links, you'll end up with glossy.

I couldn't cancel my order in time before they prepared it for shipping; so I have to either wait for the box to arrive just to return to apple at a 10% restocking fee or I'm just stuck with the glossy display.

If you're considering purchasing this machine, please be aware of this problem on Apple Store. I guess the only preventative solution is to enter into a chat with a representative and make sure you're getting the intended product before emptying the wallet.

The shipment should arrive next week...and I'm still debating on what I should do.

Does anyone have a glossy macbook pro? How reflective is the screen when you're working in different places?

My Sony Vaio is glossy and I can't think of a time when it's ever been a problem. I think the glossy screens have more apparent contrast.

Thanks Paul. I called Apple support today and they said the Genious last night was somehow mistaken. And that I'm getting the matte version.

I really prefer the matte since I take my laptop with me in the helicopter and use Google Earth and GPS to make sure we don't get lost. Can't really stop and ask for directions...

My current laptop has matte and it sometimes looks like a mirror on a sunny day. We take the doors off, so there's no 'filter' between the sun and the screen at times.

My macbook pro is less than 50 miles away sitting at the Fed Ex warehouse...and it's itching me to no end knowing it will take two more days for them to deliver

"Could you pick out this one box for me...out of the 50,000 you have back there? Please, oh pretty please!?"
