Re: Question for everybody
I have a friend who makes a small living making 3D models of spaceships and buildings to sell over the net (I understand DAZ run a good site), and I make images to sell through galleries and shops If you are looking for a 9-5 type job then work as an in house graphic designer might be for you although you would have to go on a graphic design course first I would think. _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Question for everybody
9-5 effectively means working full time and therefore a career. Photoshop is a hobby for me, so I'm not able to comment, but I would suggest there are some exceptional people out there, so the competition is intense. I would suggest that if you want something badly enough, then there is always a way, so get your work known and go from there. I guess that you will need a formal qualification to endorse your talent. Others may be able to offer stronger advice. Nick |

Re: Question for everybody
I actually meant 9-5 in the sense of being employed by someone else on a regular wage - rather than freelancing or working for yourself. Sometimes you can be working longer hours than 9-5 as a freelance but it is variable and your income is not assured. I do not know much about the French educational system but would suggest that you consider doing a degree course at University in graphic design or photography - you may even be able to combine the two. You can then decide whether to go freelance or to go for a more secure (but potentially less well paid) job with an employer In any event it would be good to start building up a portfolio (collection) of your work now - keep your entries to the FC - they will show not only technical skills and creativity but also initiative and an ability to work to a brief. _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Question for everybody
Josephine has made a good point about the FC. Also, if you ask forum members for honest feedback, both good and bad and be prepared to accept what is said, that will help you learn and provide an indication whether you have what it takes to make it. Have a look at design websites and mags like Advanced Photoshop and you'll see the extremely high standard out there. Nick |
