Re: New Interface
It's just a minor tweak, really. Maybe it's time to get rid of that dull grey background too?

Re: New Interface
Haha! Mind you, I'm in no position to pass judgement as my own hasn't been touched for a couple of years now.

Re: New Interface
Just tinkering with it, Kate. I might leave it like this for a couple of days and see how many adverse comments I get!

Its like I'm floating in space - a bit disorientating but I am sure I will get used to it in time

I have to agree.

Sorry. . .

I like the concept very much and think the old format was just a little dated. However, as Michael says, it is difficult to read the faded text.

Re: New Interface
The problem is that the same text colour has to work on both the panels (like this one) and on the black background... hence the compromise.

I've changed the text to black, but that means certain words are now on a black background. Stupid, I know, but there seems no way of controlling the different elements individually.

Still thinking about whether to keep this one...

Re: New Interface

The black text does look better and I think the issue here is the choice of background image.

Because the forum is PS related, how about faded images of the Photoshop tools we all use on a lighter background of a complimentary colour, ie the opposite on the colour wheel. So, for example, you could have a creamy background colour and invert that to achieve the opposite, with tools of a slightly darker creamy shade set to 50% opacity. Just a thought.

Re: New Interface
I can see how this all came about: the recession! Nothing much doing, so you thought "let's have a screw around with the site."

There's an old adage: If it aint broke don't fix it!

Re: New Interface
I like the idea of a new background, but some of the words outside the message boxes (such as date posted and the page numbers) don't show up on the dark background. A lighter background (but more interesting than the grey) would work.

Re: New Interface
OK, ok, ok. Actually it came about because I added the new off-topic section, then thought I ought to arrange the different forums in groups, then decided the background was looking tired. Also, I was waiting for someone to call me back from the US and was sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

The Noes have it.
