Layer masks on groups.
Is this widely known or is it just me that didn't realise you can add a layer mask to a group?

I wish I'd known this sooner. The number of times I have had to merge certain layers so I can use a layer mask on it.

Yes, a great feature. You can also duplicate the group and transform it.

I didn't know that, sounds so useful, no I just have to work out how to do it.

Vibeke,

One of the useful features of a mask on a layer group is that it will affect layer styles differently from using a mask on the layer to which the style has been applied as shown here....

Making masks for layer groups is extremely useful - particularly when working with complex reflections. You'll find instructions on doing this in Chapter 9, in the section Complex Reflections!

Interesting. I didn't know that. I can think of a few times where that would have been useful.

I wonder if there is anybody that knows EVERYTHING about photoshop. I'm sure Steve knows pretty much everything
