Becoming Freelance?
Just wanted to know, as I read a few things in the book about it, how it's possible to become a freelance artist. See, in my course I read that someone who is freelance offers their services whilst working in their own time and 50% of the time states how much they're willing to accept in payment. There's quite a few stalls and shops around my town which look like they require graphics a lot and I was wondering how to become freelance in this sort of stuff as Photoshop is really one of the things I'm acceptable of in proffesion. Though I'm not sure if my capabilities are enough for what people would want, like if somebody asked for a picture of a zombie sitting on a tombstone holding a banner above his head saying "Look at me I'm eating people".. Anybody want to help me with finding out? It's possibly the only way I can collect a decent amount of money XD |

Re: Becoming Freelance?
Why don't you print off some examples of your work and build a portfolio, Jono. Then, if you've got the gumption, you could take it round, show it to people and ask if they'd be interested in using you. I'm not sure about what to charge, I always find that difficult myself, but you don't want to undersell your work. It can take hours and hours which must be paid for, plus your overheads...electricity, wear and tear on the hard drive, etc. Try doing some research and finding out what others charge. Ad agencies charge a fortune but you wouldn't be able to get those prices at the start I shouldn't think. I wish you luck with your venture. |
