Banner shortage
Steve, To help alleviate your Banner shortage, Why not have another Friday Challenge that involves Banner creation. I have noticed that alot of the challenges recently have been very technically time consuming, which, dont get me wrong, is the most effective way of making us push ourselves and improve ( theres a but coming ) .....But, It also limits the amount of people who can participate due to various circumstances and time constraints and due to the very High standard of talent here nobody really want's to enter rushed work. It's would be nice to have more design based challenges, Technique is very important of course but design is just as important. This is in no way a criticism of the forum, i love this place and have it as my homepage so i can save on the typing. Everybody to a Man/Woman has been nothing but friendly and helpful and i am glad i found it. Sorry if im speaking out of turn. Keep up the fantastic work. Re: Banner shortage
Banners don't have to be time-consuming, intricate or technically advanced, Wayne. As with so much in Photoshop, it's the idea that is far more important than the execution. Another Friday Challenge? Well, yes, that would encourage a group of people to come up with a few more banners, certainly. But since so many forum regulars are coming up with banners anyway, I don't see that they would be spurred on by making the process a task in this way. I love seeing the new banners as they appear, and I'm grateful to those who spend time and energy creating them. And I think having one's banner up there for a week is a good reward for the time they've put into its creation. And if there is a week when there are no new banners - well, I have a huge store of old ones that can be pressed into service for a second outing. I agree about more design-based challenges, though, and in general I try to alternate the design challenges with the technical ones: so this week's triple head is a technical one, whereas last week's cathedral rebuilding was definitely a design challenge. Is this what you mean? Or did you have another view on design challenges? Glad you've getting so much value from the forum! Steve |
