Adobe Creative Suite 2 for nowt, nada, zilch!
Get Adobe Creative Suite 2 for free!

Granted this isn't the most up-to-date version but CS2 still holds its own.

It seems that Adobe has shut down bits of its registration servers and as a result it's no longer possible to activate CS2 products. To get around this they have made the downloads and generic serial numbers available for all CS2 era products, both for PC and Mac; although the latter won't run on modern Macs.

Just sign in with your Adobe login and enjoy. Get them while they're, errm, luke warm!

I have CS2 on my PC. It's still a very powerful piece of software.
Any ideas when they will be doing the same for CS6???

any ideas?

PowerPC was the chip in Macs before they switched to Intel. Since you have a more recent Mac, it means that CS2 simply won't run on your machine. Sorry.

OSX stopped including Rosetta after Snow Leopard but there are ways to deal with this issue ... As always google Rosetta OSX Lion

And great find David, thanks.

The "ways to deal with the issue" are horrifyingly complex, though, mainly involving installing Snow Leopard Server on a virtual partition created using Parallels... so be warned!

The alternative is to get an old machine to run a previous system version. That's what I do, in order to get Hemera Photo Objects to run.

I read: "involving installing Snow Leopard Server on a virtual partition created using Parallels..."

I hear a line from the next Dr Who episode

You could run Windows under Parallels and install CS2 there, of course.

David, thanks for the tip. Out of sheer greed I downloaded and successfully installed Illustrator CS2. Now can someone tell me if it's any good for photograph manipulation, or is it just for drawing & painting?

Illustrator is just for drawing, really. Not a Photoshop substitute even remotely.
