The Photoshop Version History Panel
Yesterday when doing this week's challenge I managed to accidentally overwrite my master psd file containing the entire days work. Thankfully I was able to rescue it by restoring the previous save using Mac OS time machine, but it gives you a nasty sinking feeling when you do something stupid like that.

It prompted me to, today, take a proper look at Photoshop versions and the Version History Panel. I wish I'd bothered to learn about it before! It's really cool! Every time you save your document it's logged with time and date and stored as a version. Using the Version History panel you can roll back to any time and date you want from inside your Photoshop working space and restore it, alongside the current version. To help with searching for a previous version, you can add notes to a version's save time like "Adding People" to know where you were at that point.

The downside is it's cloud based and I have the basic cheapest Photography plan with 20 GB of cloud. But 20GB is quite enough for a few modest projects and once finished I can save a project locally and free up the cloud space for the next project.

I am definitely going to start using this!
