Just Got Your Book! Have some questions
First I wanted to say that your book was one of the few in the store to actually interest me since I'm really interested in learning how to put montages together better and I'm facinated with photorealism after seeing a lot of Bert Monroy's work! His Photoshop Studio & your How to cheat, are my FAVORITE photoshop books now! I've already learned something GREAT and VERY USEFUL in the 1st chapter with the way you teach to make soft edged selections with quick mask! I can't wait to go through the rest if it's even a quarter as good. I wanted to ask something though. Are all the lesson psd files already completed for us or can we still do the lesson if we delete your "done layers" ....or do you explain every lesson as if we have ALL the layers intact? Also, is there any way to obtain all the unmodified images you use in the book if we wanted to do these lessons from scratch? (I already saved the image of the cup you posted in another thread here without the background already removed & that was nice to have! ) Thank you so much for taking time to read this and respond hopefully ![]() Shelbie P.S. In the store I was nervous cause I flipped through the whole book & still I couldn't tell if your book was for version 7 since that is all I have and worried it may be for earlier versions of Photoshop & I hate following books that have completely different info than what I'm using since I'm a beginner sorta and confused enough sometimes...but I liked it so much I bought it anyway and took a chance & I'm glad I did! |

Re: Just Got Your Book! Have some questions
Shelbie, Well, thanks for your generous comments. Really glad you're enjoying the book - and yes, I think I can promise you the rest of the book really is at least a quarter as good as the first chapter! I've tried to put all the files on the CD in their unmodified state, so that readers can work through all the examples from scratch on unmodified Photoshop files. Where images need to be in several layers, these are included. The cup without a background was a mistake! I know what you mean about the version problem. This one, as you'll have found out, is for version 7 but also works (except for a couple of examples) for versions 5 and 6 as well. The new edition, out in January, will cover Photoshop CS - and, you'll be either glad or frustrated to hear, a greatly expanded QuickMask section! Steve |
