My 2ed as arrived
Been very busy going though the new edition trying some of the new items. Brain the the bottle is a nice edition. The glass with ice I really enjoyed.

I'm starting to make more use of my graphics tablet with the book now as well. I was a little concerned (or at least my wife was) at it's cost. But I'm very glad I did not pinch a few pennies and got the 12x18 I wanted. It's much easier to use.

Not sure how others are managing with screen real estate. In the last couple of years I've spent many an hour touching up my photo's (going digital has really improved my enjoyment of this hobby). Since I started minipulating images (a recent change in artistic direction manly as a result of a cold winter) I've quickly found the pallets get in the way - Layers, channels, brushes being the main problems. My wife has just authorized a new 23" apple flat panel display (I ordered it yesterday and pick it up tommorow now I have her permission). My desk has 22" of clearece for a monitor, so as I write this I'm considering the options. All of the reasonable options will involve my power tools and my wife want's the detals and approx. cost before I start this time.

I think that's enough rambling for now. The 2nd Edition is a great follow up to the 1st edition. Really like the book.

Andrew

Really glad you like the second edition! I always feel a little guilty when people who've bought the first go on to get the second, knowing there's a fair amount of material in there they already own... just hope the extra pages are worth it. Oh, you've got all those images as well, of course.

Very envious of your 23" cinema display. I use a 20" myself, and I find the widescreen aspect ratio really good to work on.

You know, of course, that hitting the tab key will hide all the open palettes temporarily? If you've been mugging up on your keyboard shortcuts you should be able to work to some degree with the palettes hidden, which gives you more screen space. And since by now you must know all the tool shortcuts, you don't need the toolbox either...

Enjoy your new gear

Steve
