Re: Forum profiles
If you register on the forum, you'll get a Personal settings page where you can add pics and stuff. Plus, if you register, people can send you messages that don't appear on the main board. |

I had that problem when I first joined, it drove me mad. Although it accepts the password, you're not technically logged in. You have to lower the security settings on cookies in your internet properties. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: Forum profiles
I think the problem lies in that although the forum is showing to be on 'stevecaplin.com' the cookie request comes from plin.mailbox.co.uk, so I think IE treats it as a 3rd party cookie and most likely, deletes it each time. Try doing the following: Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Advanced I altered the settings to override automatic and set it to prompt. Once you are prompted and choose to always accept from this site, it should work every time (including remembering your login, which it wasn't before on mine) Hope this helps! _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: Forum profiles
Yes, I think this must be the answer. The reason I couldn't host the forum on my main How to Cheat site is that the ISP I use for that doesn't accept cgi scripting, which means the forum wouldn't work. Which means I have to host the forum on my personal site, hence the cloaked url and the confusion over cookies. Sorry! |

I had that problem with my hosted site. I don't think it likes the Win2k server, which is a shame, because it would be good to run on my new site as and when it' set up. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

A quick amendment... Rather than setting up security as I outlined before. Simply adding *.plin.mailbox.co.uk to the trusted sites list has the same effect, without the annoyance of having to manually accept or decline cookies for each site. (not sure if this is the same on a Mac or if, indeed, it is a problem in the first place) _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |
